About
Almost five hundred years of history unfold before you in Europa Universalis V, the latest version of one of the greatest strategy games of all time. Guide the destiny of any of hundreds of nations and societies in a simulated living world of unparalleled depth and complexity.
Europa Universalis V builds on the franchise’s core concept of developing and advancing nations from around a deeply researched historical world, adding more detailed diplomacy, a more sophisticated economic model, a revised military system and greater logistical depth that will challenge even the most experienced strategy gamers.

RULE a land of your choosing. Hundreds of nations are yours to command, as you guide the destiny of millions of people through the late Middle Ages up to the Age of Revolution - from the mighty Yuán Dynasty to the city-states of Italy, from the warring clans of feudal Japan to the Pope himself.
DECIDE which course your nation will take. Historical events and situations await as you chart a unique path through a new history written by your decisions. Experience The Hundred Years’ War, the Protestant Reformation, the collapse of old dynasties and rise of new ones.
EXPLORE alternate histories as you shape the world to meet your ambitions. What if England succeeded in pressing its continental claims? What if China pursued an overseas empire? What if Mongol supremacy in Russia persisted? Every action opens the possibility for an original history.

IMPOSE domestic peace in a divided realm. Keep your nation’s factions in line as Estates jockey for power in your nation. Offer privileges to one group of citizens while you limit the power of another, all in the service of keeping your population under control.
NEGOTIATE your way through an uneasy peace. Use diplomacy to entrench your dynasty across realms or build an invincible alliance. But remember that nations have no permanent friends - only permanent interests; so use your ambassadors carefully. Exact favors from friends, send threats to enemies, and keep an eye on everyone in-between.
CONQUER new lands to expand your borders. Wage War on those who impede your ambition in a completely new Europa Universalis military system. Start in the age of levies and mercenaries and, through social development, evolve to vast standing armies and impenetrable fortresses. Choose skilled commanders to oversee both land and naval forces.

BUILD a strong economic infrastructure in the most detailed trade system yet seen in a Europa Universalis game. Dozens of goods and crops are available for production and trade on a map filled with new riches to discover. Invest in feeding a growing population or trade your surplus to less bountiful societies.
MOLD your society to meet the historical moment. Choose your societal values, with new options opening as the ages move on. Centralize power at court or share it with your nobles. Pursue a tolerant policy for all faiths or condemn heretics. Emphasize massed armies or an elite cadre of quality soldiers.
GOVERN a nation composed of many cultures and faiths in a detailed simulation of the past. For the first time in Europa Universalis, populations are represented on the map in detail, so provinces may be divided by religion or culture. Your decisions will determine how these populations will fare under your leadership.

PREVAIL in the greatest strategic challenges of the past. Test your expertise in grand strategic planning on a worldscape larger and more detailed than seen in any previous Paradox Interactive game. Challenge yourself to outdo the most famous rulers of the past, eclipsing their grand accomplishments and building your own vision of a richly detailed globe.

Reviews
I've been enjoying this game quiet a bit. Coming from a background of 2k+ hours of Stellaris alone, in addition to many other Grand Strategy games.. this one, surprisingly (since I usually like sci-fi stuff) has become my favorite.
Excellent game that is very likely going to become my most played game hours-wise. Definitely some things to change and to improve on, and the inevitable Paradox locking base game content behind thousands of dollars worth of DLC, but again, excellent game and it's worth it. Biggest complaint by far is NO OTHER START DATES?!?!? SERIOUSLY?!!?! Other than that, really not sure why there's so much negativity in the reviews.

I'm a big fan of Paradox games for more than 12 years, and while their are a few issues that need to be adressed to EUV, it still the most complete game at launched, with a lot and lot of content even if it's generic it's still very good, of course their not a lot of unique content outside of major nations but that is to be expected as it would have taken multiple years to do that, and their continued to work on the game and is not being abandoned (looking at you Imperator Rome), it is still weak compared to be EUIV but it had 11 Years of devellopement in total, but if we compared the released version of the two Europa V is the better one
Fix the union bugs. I joined a union as my own country and I am a great power with 48 score and rank 6 in the world but somehow ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Novgorod with 0 score becomes the senior partner. With the previous ruler I already pushed the union integration to level 5 and I was the senior partner. What kind of bug is this? Fix the Cossacks too because right now they are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ useless. With the policy that stops tribes from assimilating I had 300 thousand tribes and only 200 Cossacks around 1550. When I removed that policy the number of Cossacks finally started growing and reached 10 thousand. There are no events and no proper mechanic even though I conquered the whole steppe region. Finish the game first and then sell it for 50 bucks
i have stopped playing this for a while and when i came back now the game crashes in the ressource loading menu how did they broke something that was working
Dont usually leave reviews but this time I am. The game has the things to be good. Interactive trade and economy aswell as population. I love the way it works with cities, how you can focus and upgrade certain areas and even how you convert a social class into another one as your country blossom and industrialise. However, the bad. The AI always, always, forms absolutely insane hugboxes of Alliances that is just impossible to deal with and little way for the player to act or deal with. Unions are never broken nor interactable with, making it impossible to break them. The fighting is fine, the levies and regular system a fun thing to work with. I just feel some of the stacks and prices for regulars is way way way to high. Shouldnt be easy to get but some of these values are ridiculous. Also as you progress into the ages, nothing seems to happen in Europe. Ottomans wither and die, Protestants dont spread and even the hundred years war last either 8 years or 200. It lacks a red-tape so to say. A line of progress for your country, much akin to how the mission trees and desicions worked in eu4 and Imperator. Aggresive expansion also needs to decrease at a quicker pace or the AI need to consolidate regions better, because fighting endless wars because all of Germany is 1-province minors with 300+ infamy keeps declaring war on you. thus far, giving the game, 1/5
Fixing the Ctrl + Shift + right-click to move armies with navies made me want to play the game again. I was burned out after 500 hours, and it stopped being fun. When I came back, it was fun again, and the patching had taken the game in the right direction, and the obsession was fresh anew. I'm very pleased with what this has become. It's not its predecessor, and they can coexist as different experiences with the same flavor.
There are loads of cool new mechanics, but there are so many that it’s become a bit of a micro-management nightmare. You can automate things and so on, but what’s the point of it all then? After 1600, the game basically just turns into colouring in the map, because there are so many buildings and whatnot that you get completely lost in it all. I’d also like to point out that the balance of power is severely skewed; for example, Bohemia is incredibly strong, almost on a par with France until the 1500s, whilst Austria never really got going in any of my games. The mechanics of the unions are too strange; it often happened that my ally or a country that was on good terms with me would attack a Uniate, or – as happened several times – my Uniate would attack my ally or friend (I’m talking about the junior Uniate in a standard union). In short, the game feels unpolished to me. I love Europa Universalis, but the building system needs a revamp, as does most of the economy – and the same goes for the game’s balance.
