long time RE fan and this game has given me everything ive wanted from a classic RE game. currently playing and im having a blast
I'm impressed by how good this games is its feels like a old school re but at the same time it is its own thing .puzzles are really good an combat is good for a fixed camera game
The literal closest you can get to classic Resident Evil, seriously NOTHING comes close! Game has so much more content coming in the future that you have to look forward to outside of Liam's main campaign.
A really cool old-school horror game; there are three difficulty levels. Easy mode is truly very easy—you have more than enough ammunition.
Highly recommended. If you love Resident Evil 0 and 1 as well as Tormented Souls I and II, you're going to love this. Caution is advised though: the Experienced difficulty is tricky. It's doable, but you really need to know the ropes. Sometimes I would walk around hours with little progress and I'd still save because I needed to go to sleep but that got me into trouble, running out of floppies. I had a much better experience playing Beginner and had to start over at that difficulty because I ran out of resources (ammo, floppy disks, health). This is recommended for the first game even if you were decent at the other games I mentioned. Otherwise you would be well advised to follow these tips: -use the combat knife to finish off zombie and conserve ammo; -use the kick (I played with Liam) if they get too close; -generally only save after you found a key or other form of access to a new room. Pleasant surprise: the game is humongous! It's bigger than Resident Evil 0 and 1 combined, no joke. This is especially impressive with so very few people (little more than two) working on this game. I am the type to circle back a lot and get lost, also as mentioned I restarted the game on Beginner and did so after being 20 hours in. So subtracting those the game was good for over 40 hours for the first playthrough with Liam. And haven't even played with Laurel. Action is purposefully clumsy like in Resident Evil which just works somehow so they kept that formula. Reloading takes time but you can walk back while reloading. So skill does factor in! If you look for huge originality, look elsewhere the game is very derivative of Resident Evil, even down to the font type. It is a love letter to it the fans will appreciate though, not a shameless copy. The puzzles are not my favorite part of the game. Some are very doable, some I still don't get or found frustratingly deceptive. Particularly certain hints were too fuzzy at times or too well hidden for me. But I am not brilliant at observing everything sharply without missing a single detail. Exploration is great. It's a very simple concept but finding key items is always exciting. A bit annoying perhaps is that the games chooses not to show a map when you're underground. Speaking of maps: I would appreciate arrows that show to which maps the exits lead to. I just can't remember that sort of thing. The cutscenes can be a bit stiff, lip syncing is bad. I did not mind. Music is very good. Atmospheric, varied and fitting. The graphics are beautiful, particularly when you get that gothic horror esthetic that Resident Evil pulled off so well. The games may look a bit greyish if you watch the trailer but was much more colorful and varied than I expected. There is a really good with use of light and much variety in backdrops. There's a bit of fanservice in them at times, early with Octavia in lingerie and introducing Laurel later on as very sexy. The story is serviceable and as pulpy as you could expect. The Early Access game feels very complete but apparently Laurels campaign is not yet done. You already get more than your money's worth and I will definitely replay this game at some point, just like the Tormented Souls games.
Un juego hermoso..!
