About

The world is dead. The state has collapsed. In a forgotten Eastern Bloc town, you are alone but not truly alone. Something stirs beyond the walls, and none of it means you well. You have only one reason to keep going: survive long enough to find your wife, Valeria. But in the cold and darkness of this unforgiving night, will you ever make it back to her?

In the hellish streets of this Eastern Bloc town, every bullet matters. There are ways to fight back, but survival demands more than firepower. Use the weapons at your disposal to clear a path, scavenge tools to overcome the obstacles ahead, and avoid unnecessary confrontations whenever you can.

Iron Blight aims to deliver an immersive gameplay experience built around atmosphere, vulnerability, and the crushing weight of isolation. Every bullet matters, and the sound of gunfire may draw even more horrors to your position. Even something as simple as opening a locked door demands thought. You must manage your food and medical supplies, move cautiously through the streets, and always consider what might be waiting around the next corner.
True Survival Horror Gameplay: Navigate desolate streets and claustrophobic interiors, where danger lurks around every corner. Solve puzzles and face the terrors that will force a choice: fight, flee, or die.
Resource Scarcity and Tension: Resources are scarce. Do you risk using your last bullet to take down a monster, or do you save it for a more critical moment and hope to slip past unnoticed?
Diegetic Grid-Based Inventory: Every single item matters, and space is a luxury you can't afford. Carefully manage your limited inventory grid, making agonizing choices about what to carry and what to leave behind.
No HUD, No Distractions: No health bars, no ammo counters, no intrusive menus. Every piece of information is conveyed through your character and the world around you. Your only interface is your own perception.
A Unique Weapon System: Check your magazines manually, round by precious round, and reload with deliberate, step-by-step actions. Every firefight becomes a tense test of your nerves and skill.
A Bleak and Oppressive Atmosphere: Rain-slick cobblestones and flickering fluorescent lights lead you deeper into a town that feels cold, hostile, and suffocating. The distant cries of things that should not exist echo through its desolate streets.
A Return to Forgotten Horror Traditions: Fear comes from the atmosphere, the gnawing uncertainty, and the constant presence of death. The story is told through the environment itself, and combat is a slow, methodical dance where every shot matters.

A great survival horror zombie game with a really good immersive atmosphere. Loved the gun play and reloading mechanics, a very nice touch. I hope to see an expansion/DLC in the future, would get it for sure! :D
There's a lot to like about this game, but I could not recommend it in its current state by virtue of just how buggy it is. I lost the ability to heal halfway through my playthrough and now get killed if anything so much as looks in my direction. My guns occasionally disappear and become inaccessible, objects in the world blink in and out of existence, I even fell out of the map at one point. It's just too much to deal with. I will come back after a few updates and will amend my review if/when these issues are addressed.
Gloomwood but actually finished
Great foundation for something much bigger
As it stands Iron Blight is a pretty decent game. It's gameplay loop is reminissent of something like No More Room in Hell where you run around shooting zombies while solving immediate problems like opening new passages or collecting X number of Y to progress the story. However this is all you are getting. Game lacks enternainment value because all you'll be doing througout your entire 4 hour playthrough is walk around big empty maps, solve kindergarten level "puzzles" while shooting zombies. If anything Iron Blight gave me massive deja vu, like I'm back in Ravenholm. But Ravenholm had way more going for it than just spoopy zombies. You got to properly utilize your gravity gun, make use of traps and enjoy the crazy monologues of Father Grigori. Here you don't ever see anything happening in the world. You constantly keep hearing other people dying or fighting zombies, but you barely see any corpses, there are almost no signs of struggle and it just looks like the city was dead for a VERY long time. For a tense zombie game it's very tame. Don't get me wrong, game sucks you in instantly due to its very good looking visuals and artstyle, immersive elements like diegetic UI and detailed animations, outstanding work when it comes to sound design that brought me memories from RE7 as well as tense gameplay sequences where game throws a bunch of zombies at you. And on higher difficulties with additional modifiers you gotta keep an eye out on your inventory space, ammo, infection meter, melee weapon durability and surroundings to not get sandwiched. Highly recommended to start on the hardest difficulty with all the modifiers on (besides iron man). Exploration is rewarded with new guns and gun mods, but that's not enough. You never find yourself on an arena where you can utilize verticality or physics to your advantage to spice up the battle (hell you can't even jump in this game). You never find yourself on the high ground that would allow you to properly utilize that sniper rifle with a scope and suppressor I kept carrying around HOPING something like that would happen. You never get to avoid danger by sneaking past zombies or distracting them. Yes, sometimes you can instakill a zombie with melee if you sneak up on them, but it's a VERY rare occasion. And for a game that claims to be a survival horror, you do very little when it comes to struggling and surviving and more pew-pew boom-booms, essentially cleaning out dozens of zombies. This feels more like the proof of concept rather than a proper game. Something you usually get in early access, get impressed by and say "welp, see you around in a couple of months". I really like what you did here, so I can only hope you expand on this and make something better.
This game is genuinely amazing, and I haven't even finished it yet. I believe I have a bit of a ways yet which is awesome. The art style is that retro kind that everybody loves and the music, though subtle, is beautiful. The levels are extremely well thought out and are full of loot and secrets to find. The whole game feels inspired by Resident Evil and similar survival horror titles while still making its own identity. The guns feel great to use and the mutants are genuinely disturbing. I haven't seen them all yet but there are different kinds of mutants and I've loved them all so far, some are seriously intimidating though I won't spoil any. The looting is a really addicting loop and actually does make you decide what you should and shouldn't take with the storage that's given to you, which you can upgrade by finding larger backpacks as you journey. One of my favorite things about Iron Blight is the simplicity of your goal: survive and get back to your beloved wife. Its the kind of single-focus you would really have in a situation like this and I appreciate that simplicity in a genre that's usually throwing all kinds of plots and great evils to be vanquished at you. In Iron Blight, you just want to keep breathing and find your love safe and sound. Something else I noticed is the ambient screams and gunshots going on around you in the town. The work done on these are some of the most genuine and creepy audio bits of its kind that I've heard in a game. Those people are out there around you and fighting just like you and they're dying horribly. There is actual fear and pain in the way they sound. The creepiest part isn't how real and off-putting they sound, its the fact that none of those people sound like they're winning. Eventually, as far as I can tell, the sounds stop. Where I'm at currently in the game I'm not really hearing gunshots and screams anymore. These background sounds do wonders in keeping you on edge and creating a sensation of hopelessness. A final detail I'd like to highlight, when something terrifying happens your character's hands will begin to shake and his breathing gets heavy. His first mutant kill or facing the horrors within Apartment B (have fun in there lol) all cause this effect and its extremely immersive. Shells and discarded bullets actually fall to the ground, everything physical has a 3D model that takes up space in the world and is never relegated to a flat image in a menu. Iron Blight is very accessible as well, giving you a variety of difficulties and customizable settings to choose from to make your playthrough as difficult or easy as you would like, even including an Ironman mode to play with. For my first time I've chosen to do Normal difficult, pick whichever you'd like, but I HIGHLY recommend turning Iron sight aiming and ammo loss on. By default your character just zooms with crosshairs when aiming, whereas iron sight aiming makes you actually use the weapon's sights. The default reload just puts more ammo into your gun and that's it but ammo loss makes it so reloading a magazine will lose whatever ammo was still inside. These settings make the game more difficult in a genuinely enjoyable way while also boosting the immersion and strategy massively. A quick tip with the ammo loss setting, if you unload any ammo that was still good you can pick it up off the ground to put back in your backpack! Overall I absolutely recommend Iron Blight, I can't sing its praises enough and I hope the best to Ronesans Interactive!
Overall: 6.5/10 Not an awful game by any means, but in its current state, I’m not sure it’s worth the $12.50 non introductory sale asking price. Pros - Awesome throwback graphics and overall aesthetic - Responsive controls - Smooth gunplay - Runs well Neutral - Clearly plays better with keyboard and mouse - Manually racking the shotgun and cocking the revolver use separate inputs from firing by default - Weapons can jam fairly often Cons - Very short game - Basic story that left little emotional impact - Various visual glitches - Some janky AI behavior - Hordes are more annoying than fun - Doesn't feel much like a traditional survival horror game I originally started playing with a controller because I was hoping to play the entire game that way, but I quickly switched to keyboard and mouse. The game feels much more naturally designed around that control scheme, so Steam Deck players should probably keep that in mind. That said, I really enjoyed the overall aesthetic. Everything has a grimy, oppressive feel to it, and the game does a good job of creating tension at times. However, that tension is often short-lived, and the game never really gave me the same survival horror feeling I get from games like Resident Evil or Silent Hill. It feels more like an action-focused horror experience with some survival horror elements. The weapon mechanics were a little frustrating at first. Having to manually rack the shotgun or ♥♥♥♥ the revolver through a separate input felt awkward initially, especially since I wasn't expecting it. I'm not sure whether these controls can be remapped, but once I got used to them, I actually started enjoying the mechanic. Weapon jams also added another layer of tension. One of my favorite touches was being able to inspect the magazine to check how much ammunition you have left. It's a small mechanic, but it adds to the immersion and makes managing your ammunition more engaging. The biggest issue for me is simply the length. By the time I was really getting into the atmosphere and mechanics, the game was already over. There are some good ideas here, and I think the foundation could make for a much stronger experience if expanded upon. I am going to leave a positive review only because I did actually enjoy the short experience I had. TL;DR It's an alright game with a great aesthetic, solid gunplay, and some interesting weapon mechanics, but it's far too short in its current state. I enjoyed my time with it, but at $12.50, I'd recommend waiting for a sale or for the game to receive more content and polish.
it's cute. Nothing crazy, just an enjoyable little experience that's priced well.
The game is a bit rough around the edges, but it was paced right and very atmospheric. Just a little too short, wish there was something more like a survival or something along those lines (mercenary mode from RE).
