Earth Must Die

It's a game ever. I'm not familiar with any of the writers or staff but apparently they're pretty well known, so not sure how this feels like "an episode of that adult swim show you randomly remembered in your head that got cancelled after one season but now you watched an episode and understand why." It's dragged out with a lot of humor being maybe a chuckle at best and a decent amount being gross out or random cursing. Jokes at the beginning were pretty nice but after a while it devolves into nonstop pop culture references and how stupid the main character is. The acting is alright, but nobody's really giving a particularly fantastic delivery of anything. There's some emphasis when they have to do vocal ticks to make a joke work, but nothings really... charming. Ben Starr is here with a voice filter on the most generic bad guy dialogue you've ever heard, what a waste. The story is, again, like an adult swim show episode where the punchline is everybody is a loser and sucks. It's just not 22 minutes and more like 5 hours. Dreadful and unsatisfying compared to how gripping this genre can be. There's a ton of lore to optionally catch up on which shows they do care a lot about the universe, but the main plot is a slog that makes the entire experience meaningless by the end. The main character is simply the least interesting and most annoying person in the game which is a problem when they're your main character. I never feel like the game goes far enough for him being an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ either with most of the despicable acts being a "well that escalated quickly" or got out of hand type thing rather than being intentional. Nothing is "fun" about seeing his journey for greed and power. It's loose feeling. The pacing feels pretty dreadful as its literally a series of inconveniences that stop the next plot point from happening that the characters will complain about constantly. The puzzles seem straight forward at first, but there's not actually that many hints to really important parts and there's often a ton of filler options. For example, you need to switch a table to a kitchen and then use the toaster three times in a row to set something on fire when you also have to switch the table to a garage to spray oil onto a background that you change into clothes, but there's four options for the table and four options for the background so it's just screwing around until you see these interact at all and even then nothing indicates you can use the toaster repeatedly and no other puzzle in the entire game even uses something repeatedly like that. Puzzles especially in the second half rely on a lot of timing gimmicks which are incredibly hard to discern with some being tighter than others, and nothing feels rewarding about figuring these out. It's a lot of "what? that works like that?" Or asking your bot to move something when there's nothing that would give you the idea to move them. Music wasn't really noticeable. Can't really associate any one to a story beat or level because the pacing was that bad. Art style is really charming and the best selling point, love the diversity in environments and character shapes. Even regular human people are all really distinct between themselves. There's a lot of weird alien races that blend together believably. Overall, I just wanted to push through it so I could delete the 32 gb off of my hard drive. It kept losing more and more steam.

As someone who's been playing point & click adventures since Monkey Island 1, I feel like I could've skipped this one. Maybe it's okay for 5 bucks or so. Contra: - Far, far too many (bad) penis / sex jokes - Unskippable intro on every game start - Unskippable, extremely slow credits on game completion, nothing after. Horrible "music" during it - Pure gamepad / keyboard movement, no pathfinding through mouseclicks. Luckily movement is mostly unnecessary - Very few hotspots, so extremely streamlined gameplay. - Very short, though it took me 3 days to complete the 5 hours since it just didn't captivate me Pros: - New take to the point & click genre. Not my favorite type, but good to see innovation - I really love the VA of the companion, she's doing a great job of delivering her lines with the intended sarcasm - Somewhat new story ideas, - Runs well and bugfree

I really, really wanted to like this game, as a huge fan both of the comedians voicing it and of the point and click adventure game genre. But I can't bring myself to recommend this game. The premise is fun in theory but the writing just didn't land for me. (It's a bit of a gamble making the main character wholly unlikeable - when the humour doesn't work it makes the experience a bit grating.) The puzzles flip back and forth between too simple and downright frustrating ([spoiler]The Snake Pit[/spoiler] being a particular low point). The artwork is great, but beyond that I struggled with motivation to continue. A pity.

Deeply enjoyable game. First point-and-click adventure I've finished in literal decades. Fun story, great voice acting, interesting puzzles. Entertaining top to bottom!

Another fantastic game from Size Five. Great writing, fun puzzles and all presented in a wonderful art style with the best voice acting going. Does contain lots of swearing and adult humour, in case the cartoon graphics made you think this might be child-friendly.

I usually don't bother writting reviews, but this game is an exception. The humor was crude, the 'puzzles' overly simple and might as well not have been there. The story was so/so, but the ending just destroyed it for me. Complete waste of time. The VO was good and it looks fine if you like the cartoon aesthetic. The music is also fine, but also nothing really noteworthy.

Very charming game, a classic adventure game in the style of Grim Fandango, and featuring so many of the best of English comedy. Alex Horne plays TWO SEPARATE ROLES! Just be very aware this is not a game for kids, and you may run into problems streaming it as this is a supremely horny game.
