Dust and Salt is a text-based narrative adventure with a pinch of turn-based tactical battles which has you as the main hero leading your troops in a gritty, low-power, medieval fantasy world. You decide where to go and whom to form alliances with. Force your will with either diplomacy or through war.

Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0/day in the week to Aug 28 → 0/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

I play a lot of CYOA (Choose your own adventure) games. This one's pretty good but could've been better. Pros: - Very interesting setting, I really wish there was a lore book inside the game to learn more about it. - Gorgeous map. - Wonderful music by Danheim - Some of the sidequests are pretty interesting - Paying attention to the dialogue and the lore actually rewards you in some situations (take notes if you can) Cons: - Only limited to 3 skills per playthrough - too limiting in my opnion - The main plot is nothing to write home about. A pinch of Conan, a dash of ASOIF, and a bit of Glen Cook's Black Company - Battle system is not great. Frankly I am not sure the game even really needs one. I think instead it could've used a more interesting dueling system instead - Not enough choices in most situations, that's when there are choices at all. I wouldn't say the story is completely linear but in any given quest there are very few options compared to some other CYOA games - Very little initial explanation of how certain things (like Glory points) work Conclusion: Definitely worth picking up on sale, but I think it could've had more depth.

An interesting story, just wish it was longer.
A cool adaptation of a fun old chose-your-own-adventure book. With amazing art and a memorable sound track. It does have some basic turn-based battles here and there but the core of the game is an old school text based interactive story.
Couldn't tolerate catastrophically-unexplained do-it-again-stupid no-agency choose-your-own-adventure opening for long enough to see if there's anything of value afterwards. Felt like the worst games of the late 1970s.
I would call this game a fantasy reading simulator with some very basic turn-based combat. It's all very basic, but if you want some written story-driven entertainment this may be for you.
Incredibly basic, battle system is atrocious, story is standard fantasy revenge plot. Look towards IOS games Sorcery! if you want a good version of this!
Great writing, aweasome art and an overall really pleasant experience. If you like choose-your-own-adventure style games then you can't go wrong with this one.
As a gamebook fan, it was about time to play Dust and Salt. The first thing which impressed me, was the fascinating music; it creates a great atmophere. The story was intriguing and the art well-favoured. I've also enjoyed the Heroes of Might&Magic alike battles and map movement. I recommend this game and am looking forward to play the sequel The Battle for Murk!
Well written but the replay value is pretty low as the options basically boil down to "right option," "not right option but basically the same outcoume as the right option", and "you die." It's a good read though and it's worth spending a few bucks on if you want to kill a couple of hours, but once you beat it you probably won't pick it back up. Basically a chose your own adventure book for PC with some basic turn based combat thrown in here and there.
