Modeled estimate, not a reported figure. How we estimate →
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Charts
Each storefront's own chart, in its own country — the closest public signal to sales where none is published. A country missing from a list is one we don't collect there, not one where the game doesn't chart.
No United States chart position — it charts only in the markets below.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.

DQXIS is, simply, the much better version to play of DQXI, owing to its expanded (optional) content and QoL features that weren't present in the original, such as battle speed options, cutscene-skipping, and something I especially appreciate, being able to purchase previously-obtained crafting materials right at the forge, at reasonable but considerable prices. That said, I think the original has the better narrative because XIS, ironically, adds something that makes it worse.
XIS adds 4 different, mandatory interludes between acts 1 and 2 focusing on each of your party members, sans two, showing how/what they've been doing after Yggdrasil fell. What this means is that when you return to playing as the Luminary, losing your party members hits significantly less hard. You know they're alive, you already know how they're doing, and you have a general idea of where they are. It also gives you a glimpse of what some locations in the world look like after the bad guy takes over. It doesn't have that sense of hopelessness that was present as you travel the fallen world alone because you're fully expecting to find your friends in the exact same situation that you've already seen, and subsequently doesn't have that sense of surprise and relief when you do. It also doesn't have that feeling of rediscovering the world from the start, now ruled by darkness, because you've already seen a sizeable portion of it. It removes the mystery, is what I'm trying to say. These interludes are also essentially just a long series of extremely linear sections with a few mandatory battles, so they're extra boring. I already think the story of act 3 was awful because it literally undoes the fantastic act 2, but they've gone one step further and made act 2 worse before it even began. But oh well, it's still nice to play, at least.

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Aug 24: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 3.44/day in the week to Aug 4 → 5/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 23 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 14 places towards #1, and the 2,515 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

The game that got me through 2020. This, Doom Eternal and Xenoblade Chronicles 2 were the best part of that year. Finally re-bought it on PC and played through it again. WHAT A RIDE!
JRPG semplicemente meraviglioso e coinvolgente.
Despite playing JRPGs since '91, this is surprisingly my first Dragon Quest game and I have to say that I'm really liking it! The tone is cheesy, the enemies look fun thanks to the classic Toryama-sensei style, there are no random encounters (but there's still grinding) and it plays very smoothly. The whole experience is like a refined classic JRPG. No weird, exotic storyline beats or gameplay mechanics, which is, after 20 years of hit-and-miss Final Fantasy games and the general push for changes aimed at capturing new, younger crowds, pretty refreshing. There are notable exceptions like Expedition 33, of course, but if you're looking like a lighthearted, very *very* refined JRPG experience, then look no further. Will update the review if anything changes, but I can and want to recommend this game after 18 hours.
bon jeu bon jeu
