Modeled estimate, not a reported figure. How we estimate →
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Charts
Each storefront's own chart, in its own country — the closest public signal to sales where none is published. A country missing from a list is one we don't collect there, not one where the game doesn't chart.
No United States chart position — it charts only in the markets below.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Aug 24: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 3.44/day in the week to Aug 4 → 5/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 23 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 14 places towards #1, and the 2,515 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Having only played DQVIII on PS2 back in the day and loving it, I was really looking forward to playing this one. Keep in mind this is the Definitive Edition rather than the original release. This version brings MANY QoL changes to the table, full Japanese audio, 2D mode, additional side content to flesh out characters, a new major quest and some other smaller changes. What you lose in the process is surprisingly some graphical fidelity as the Definitive version is based on the Nintendo Switch but this can be easily rectified with a mod to restore original graphics. The audio direction of the DQ series is iconic, it is unlikely any fan would listen to the first few seconds of the main theme and not recognise what it is. The soundtrack delivers in spades yet again here. The art style of the late great Akira Toriyama (of Dragonball fame) is on full display and it has become an integral part of what DQ is defined as. Combat is where you would expect it to be, this is unabashedly an old school turn based RPG which refines many of the elements but keeps pretty close to tradition. Good battles and skill choices, insanely grindy (I installed a mod to reduce the grind) and well animated. I mentioned the graphical downgrade in this edition as well as the grindy nature but neither of those is enough to really qualify as a negative. Where DQ XI S has huge issues is in the storyline and pacing. While the first two acts of the game were great, the last act felt tacked on and a needless time sink. I finished the game but that last act was a drag where I forced myself to continue out of stubbornness than any compelling gameplay related reason. The game just overstayed its welcome by a long shot. TLDR; this is a good game that is massively let down by the pacing and plot, enough to bring down what is a great overall package to a score of 7/10 but YMMV and if you could forgive the story then it could definitely be higher for you.
A pleasure to have been able to play one of the most wonderful JRPG ever made. I do hope that DQ mainline won't stop with XI, My wish are that XII will be a masterpiece or a strong 8/10, that X will be one day playable for Europe and that the Zenithian Trilogy in 2DHD will be soon in our hands. Thx DQ for being such a big part in my love of games.
Good simple classic
