Double Dragon: Neon

6 out of 10 Combat isnt fluid but it is simple. The tone is a bit too goofy for a Double Dragon game, though it kinda grows on you. Marian was hot and Evil Marian was even hotter so theres that.

Fun, decent beat-em-up with a very dated neo-80's look that will fill an afternoon with a buddy. The aesthetic was unique at the time but now it's way over done. The gameplay is solid, although perennial issues with the genre are still present (spacing, being one pixel above or below the target results in whiffs). Crashes on Windows made this game unplayable for me for years so your mileage may vary. We're at that stage where Windows is so ♥♥♥♥ that these games run better in Linux lol.

This games lanes feel really cheap. Am I hitting the enemy or am I too deep or shallow. There are times when you think you should hit only to completely whiff on your attack to only get smacked by an enemy. Dodge is crap. Takes way to long and basically doesn't work. Game overall feels really bad.

...Huh? You're telling me that IGN gave this game a 3.0 back in the day? Well...shame on me, because this is the best 3/10 game I have played in a very long time. Its even better than most 7-9/10 games these days. I mean, Neon has it all: Online, couch co op, replayable, EZ2Learn Hard2Master, an awesome OST, tough yet multiple and engaging difficulties, new game plus, sick combos, decent graphics, style, good sound design, and hundreds more things that I probably forgot to list. Double Dragon Neon has a little something for everyone.
