It's an ok release.Hope it leads to success and better things for Cave. This article interview with Cave helped me understand their thinking behind it. https://www.gamespark.jp/article/2026/08/27/171382.html If you want the arranges and all the older release on Steam is better, this is trying to achieve something a bit different.

Call this an absolute failure to launch. There are missing features galore with this game, and some technical issues running in the later levels. Not to mention that Battle Royale mode doesn't really work. I refunded it shortly after I picked it up. I'm happy with the original 2016 release, and chances are you will be too.
I am sorry, I just have absolutely zero interest in a concept art unlock system that gives me only one (1) unlock's worth of currency for a full win of the online mode (And you need 100+ unlocks to see all the art), half that for setting my controller down and walking away, and also phones home online EVERY TIME I TRY TO UNLOCK SOMETHING just to prevent me from cheat engine skipping that nonsense. You can take Cave out of the phone game but you can't take the phone game out of Cave.
I'm going to be the lone voice of reason here; I know a lot of people are recommending the degica port in the reviews because of the absolute state this game released in (non-existant tate support, lack of play options, creatively bankrupt stage 6, gimmick battle royale that's a coin-toss as to whether it works or not, mixed ability for the game to boot up etc etc) but I feel a need to remind people that even with all the content and launch support that the degica release has, DO NOT FEEL LIKE YOU NEED TO DUMP MONEY ON IT AS IT HAS HUGE PROBLEMS WITH INPUT DELAY AND SLOWDOWN AND DOES NOT PLAY THE WAY IT DID IN ARCADES OR ON THE 360. Degica has not fixed those problems since the game was launched, and it's extremely unlikely they will ever fix them. Your best bet /by far/ is to either emulate the original arcade release, find a copy of the 360 port and play that (it's not region locked and can be played on any 360 console from any part of the planet and it both runs and looks /great/) or just wait for M2 Shottriggers to release their own version of the game. I can't recommend anyone picks up this port unless Cave fixes all the issues with it. This feels like a weird copyright license renewal or a tax write off more than anything else and it's extremely sad to see Cave reduced to a state where they publish ports of this caliber.
Terrible that such a well respected developer would stoop to releasing this cash grab. The 6th stage has no new assets, and this battle royal is just a big blurry mess. The 1.5 release from years ago is all you need.
I bought this, and I'm [strike]keeping it (the multiplayer is actually fun),[/strike] refunding it after some thought. Might buy this if it gets discounted, but at full price (even at 10% off), this is a joke. - No training mode - No replays - Menus look like they're from a mobile game. They're not great. They work, but they're really not great. Old DFK menus were so much better. - Missing arrange and game versions (no Black Label? the hell?) - In multiplayer when you game over, there's no way to spectate the other players. Also bullets don't show in the tiny thumbnails that are supposed to show the other player's games. - The game doesn't look very good (I play on a 1440p screen, I can count the pixels). For an old game such as this, at least an upscale to the textures would go a long way. - In multiplayer, the visibility isn't exactly great. A lot of the time effects/ text will hide bullets. Caveats: I haven't played the arcade yet. Frankly this could have just been DLC for DFK, add the multiplayer, add the one level, and sell it for $5-10. That would have been MUCH more fair than selling this butchered, inferior version for full price. Right now, the price doesn't justify the expense vs. just buying the older DFK release. On the other hand, CAVE isn't exactly a large company, and I'd love if they released something new (it's been ages since they released a genuinely new game). So here's hoping my money goes to that... doubtful as that is.
This feels like these 360 ports they did in 2010s, but somehow it's worse. Setting up tate is as clunky as these ports, yet it simply doesn't work (link controls-screen option exists for whatever reason and it doesn't do it's job since it rotates whole screen when selected rather than... linking the controls rotation????). During like 3 or 4 bosses the music didnt trigger, i had only sfx and voices. I got a gut feeling it isn't the most passionate late CAVE project ever and while online might be fun i dont think i got reason to play this when i own DFK already.
