If you're a disc golfer and you have VR, picking this up (especially if on sale) is a no-brainer. It's a 4/5 stars for me, lots of the things that make the original phone game popular are brought to this port and make it great as well. Particularly, the level design of the courses that I really enjoy. But this game has better disc physics and and flight calculation than anything else out there, by far... even if it still leaves a bit more to be desired. I still think you want to buy this game... if they do actually continue to develop it (it's been 1.5 years since it was released as early access, and no updates), that's just a bonus. Let's hope they do. Let's just put it this way; yes, it appears to be abandon-ware. But, you're either buying this game, or you're never going to buy a VR disc golf title... because it'll be a few years before anything comes out that's better than this as it is already. If you're a disc golfer (and I assume you are if you're interested in this game), your disc golf throwing mechanic isn't going to translate to this game straight up. But after some trial and error, you can adapt, and it works. It's a decent effort to match the two, though I do hope development resumes and they further refine it. The main thing to know going in is if you want to throw a 10 speed driver 350 ft in this game, you're actually going to want to "throw" with the equivalent of 100 ft of standstill power, which is enough to achieve the games maximum disc speed of "30". Anything more than that, and it seems to screw up the games interpretation of the release angle of the disc, so you get cut rollers and early releases, at least on the Rift CV1. If you think about it, that's to be expected; no one is going to build a game that actually rewards you going dangerously crazy in your little VR space trying to gain extra distance. Full power throws without letting go of the controller are bad for your elbow. So just give everything a smooth, soft flick, play with the release angle and disc selection, and you'll have fun. My only other complaint, the scale of the game is quite off. What you're told is a 30 ft putt actually feels like a tap in. But all of it being relative, if you ignore the numbers it gives you, the ratio of the disc to the throws to the basket size all free "right"... except for maybe the putting which is a little too touchy for me.

very very very fun but i wish it had multiplayer or any of the updates that are on the mobile app
took 10 hours to get an ace
It's a fun version of the mobile game. Still needs some work, but worth it already.
very fun game. not abandoned dont listen to these people just a really small dev team that is also running a mobile version of the game which is a lot more popular. join their discord and talk to them to learn about mods they're great guys. also switch your beta in properties to "public_playtest" alot more maps and the bots are a lot more forgiving.
this game is really fun, i feel that 95% of the time the game feels accurate, theres lots of courses and lots of discs. BUT the the levels get too hard to fast. it hold your hand for the first 14 holes then prosists to bury you. you have to win tournaments to advance to harder tournament and while i can win C level usualy by 1 stroke or a tie B ramps up considerably and so does the computers scores. not kidding you need to birdie every hole to win a group B and that 95% accuracy begins to be to big of a problem on its own on top of you needing to get straight birdies through courses harder then ive ever played in real life. you can get all the courses in normal play and alot of discs but money to expand your bag and better discs comes from turnys and your gona find urself at the bottom of the stat sheet in B tournaments
Pros Lots of potential. Putting feels real This could make for an fantastic way to practice disc golf Has a mode to throw with a flick so thats nice Throwing disc at high angles feels real and responsive. I can play with the exact disc I have in real life. Cons Removed my comment about disc dynamics I think I wasnt throwing hard enough to get the disc to fly right? The flick method still feels wrong and its difficult to use. I want to release too soon in VR compared to real life. For some reason even though the graphics are super basic it causes massive spikes in performance making the game lag graphically and becomes unplayable. The rethrow option is something I really dont get. You can rethrow your disc but it counts against your score and the button to proceed is right next to it. Needless to say I have hit it a few times by mistake. The timing on release for the flick just feels wrong. I have to put the disc directly in front of me before I can release. I want this game to be good and I will keep checking in but right now its not great. One more thing I forgot the distance in feet is just bonkers. Standing DIRECTLY beside the basket it claimed I was 10 feet away. New Ive run into this a few times now where when I put a long put and touch the basket but it falls out. A miss on my part. The disc lands a few feet from the basket but for some reason the game makes me re putt a 30 foot putt instead of putting from where the disc landed thats pretty lame. I also had the chains like reject my putt. Perfect land in the chains and it just did a 180 and came out which was a little frustrating. im still on the fence about changing this game to recommended but then I started it up and the graphics spikes went haywire again. Ill keep playing and checking back in again this game has a lot of potential.
yippee!
