Direct is a fast paced score-attack game. Play to unlock cosmetic ship upgrades and increasingly more difficult game modes. Approximately a 2 hour experience to complete, but still fun and easy to jump back into during a coffee break to beat your high scores. Addictive, infuriating fun!

Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0/day in the week to Aug 10 → 0.14/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Direct is a small but intensely focused arcade game developed and published by ToastieLabs. Released in 2017, it takes the basic idea of navigating through obstacles and builds an entire score-attack experience around speed, rhythm, reaction time, and repeated attempts at improvement. Instead of presenting a lengthy campaign or complicated collection of mechanics, the game concentrates on a straightforward challenge that players can understand almost immediately. Its simplicity is intentional, making it particularly suited to short sessions while still providing reasons to return and pursue higher scores. At its core, Direct combines rhythm-inspired audiovisual presentation with fast obstacle avoidance. Players move through sequences of hazards while trying to survive each set successfully. Every cleared sequence contributes points, meaning that staying alive and performing consistently are directly connected to progression. The controls and objectives are uncomplicated, but the gradually increasing speed creates the real challenge. What initially feels manageable can become considerably more demanding as reaction windows shrink and mistakes become increasingly difficult to correct. The scoring system provides the foundation for nearly everything else in the game. Points are not merely a record of performance because they can also be spent to unlock additional content. Among the rewards are ten cosmetic ship variations that allow players to change the appearance of their craft. These additions do not appear to provide competitive advantages, which keeps success dependent on skill rather than upgrades. It is a modest customization system, but it gives accumulated points another purpose and provides small goals beyond simply beating a previous score. Difficulty progression is another important part of Direct. There are five difficulty modes, with tougher challenges becoming accessible through stronger performances and higher scores. This structure gives players an incentive to improve instead of immediately confronting the hardest possible version of the game. The increasing challenge also suits the score-attack format because mastery becomes a gradual process. Players can become familiar with movement and obstacle patterns before attempting faster and less forgiving conditions. An interesting addition is Slow-Mode, which can also be unlocked with points. This option provides a more approachable way of experiencing the game for players who find its normal acceleration overwhelming. Importantly, Slow-Mode is not required to complete the standard progression. It functions more as an accessibility option, allowing a wider range of players to experience the content without removing the demanding skill ceiling available through normal play. That is a sensible compromise between accessibility and challenge. Direct is designed to be a relatively short experience. ToastieLabs describes progression from zero to full completion as taking approximately two hours. That could make the amount of conventional content seem limited, particularly for players accustomed to lengthy campaigns. However, the intended longevity comes from replaying stages and improving scores rather than discovering hours of new material. It works best as something that can be played for a brief session, abandoned for a while, and returned to whenever the player feels like attempting another personal record. One of the game's most unusual features is its enormous collection of 520 Steam achievements. For such a compact title, this is an exceptionally large number. Achievements effectively become another progression mechanism, providing frequent milestones as players work through different difficulty settings and score objectives. Achievement hunters may appreciate having so many goals attached to a relatively short arcade experience. On the other hand, players who prefer achievements to represent rare or substantial accomplishments may find their abundance reduces the significance of earning each individual one. The presentation is built around color and sound, fitting the rhythm-oriented nature of the gameplay. Rather than depending on narrative atmosphere or detailed world building, Direct uses audiovisual feedback to complement movement and timing. This approach keeps attention concentrated on immediate gameplay information. Because higher speeds require quick reactions, visual clarity and consistent performance become particularly important. The developer even notes that computers operating below the listed minimum specifications may experience performance issues at higher speeds, which could significantly affect a game where accurate timing matters. The technical requirements remain relatively modest by modern standards, although they are somewhat notable for such a visually straightforward arcade title. The minimum specifications list Windows 10, an Intel i5 processor, 4 GB of RAM, an NVIDIA GTX 960, DirectX 10, and approximately 500 MB of storage. Recommended hardware increases the processor to an Intel i7, memory to 8 GB, and graphics hardware to a GTX 970. Storage remains at approximately 500 MB, making Direct a very small installation compared with most contemporary games. Where Direct succeeds is in maintaining a clear identity. Nearly every mechanic supports the same fundamental loop of avoiding hazards, earning points, unlocking rewards, accessing harder difficulties, and attempting better performances. There is little unnecessary complexity. Players who enjoy arcade games where mechanical improvement is the main source of satisfaction may find that focus appealing. The five difficulty levels provide a progression ladder, cosmetic ships offer lightweight customization, Slow-Mode improves accessibility, and the achievement system supplies numerous additional milestones. That same simplicity is also the game's biggest limitation. Direct does not offer the breadth expected from a larger action game. There is no substantial storyline, elaborate campaign, deep equipment system, multiplayer competition, or extensive selection of gameplay styles described as part of the experience. Once the player understands the central obstacle-avoidance loop, most of the remaining appeal depends on enjoying that loop enough to repeat it under increasingly demanding conditions. Players who require constant mechanical variety may therefore lose interest relatively quickly. Overall, Direct is best approached as a compact arcade challenge rather than a conventional full-length action game. ToastieLabs has constructed an experience that understands its limited scope and concentrates on speed, reflexes, rhythm, scoring, and replayability. Its short completion time prevents it from becoming a major commitment, while harder difficulties and score chasing provide additional longevity for dedicated players. The huge achievement collection and cosmetic rewards further strengthen the progression system, although they cannot completely compensate for the limited variety of the underlying gameplay. For players who appreciate short score-attack games and enjoy repeatedly improving their performance, Direct provides an accessible yet increasingly demanding diversion. Rating: 6/10
игра что бы тренировать пальцы
Sweet and short. The game features five modes ranging from easy to insane, with difficulty increasing over time through a speed multiplier, adding to its replayability. There are a few ships to choose from, and a slow mode that makes it easier to unlock the remaining achievements. It would’ve been great to have leaderboards and high scores separated by slow and regular modes on the main menu. Well worth the price regardless!
Gameplay wise. Direct is decent, although if you want to go for all the achievements it becomes a massive slog to higher difficulties basically requiring you to grind to 3,000 for slow mode (which makes the game EXTREMELY dull because of how slow it actually is.) Then again the game is only $1 so it's not like it's a rip-off or anything. However, on my device the game was completely unable to run without going into the advanced system settings on my computer and adding an environmental variable that this game apparently requires to run without crashing. Without this I was unable to go past 20 score on easy mode (so I basically couldn't play). Due to this instability, and the fact that the developer has no warning or fix for this gamebreaking issue, I cannot in good conscience recommend this game. The solution I used can be found in the community forums with this link . It worked for me so if you decide to buy this game for the achievements hopefully it works for you as well.
