a bit too simplistic and too random, hard to recommend but I cannot say it's a bad game
Pretty cool. The chimera and item variety makes it worth replaying a lot of times.

Oh, this is a lot of fun, I'm glad I gave it a shot.
Dicefolk is a mobile app that's been dumped on Steam as if it was a real PC game (it's not)... it's a cash grab from greedy mobile devs. This mobile app is <<<<<< ABOOOUUUUUUT >>>>>> This mobile app is at a core level, a very lazy ripoff of Slay the Spire with cartoony anime reject artwork, and a mechanic where the CCG aspect of the game (you know, the best part) is replaced with a crappy "action dice" mechanic... and weirdly, not quite understanding how dice games work, you have to roll the dice for the enemy, too. That's not fun, but this really feels like a half-baked "Let's make some money off the back of Slay The Spire's concept" cash grab more than anything serious for PC gamers... well, it is a mobile app first and foremost, and developers pushing mobile trash onto Steam for profit is not okay. But that's what's happened here. From a technical perspective, as a mobile app, this doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. While there are options to change the resolution for the game, all this does is scale up the simplistic 2D art assets used to make the game, which makes little or no difference to the graphics quality. Without any other substantial graphics tweaks, it's not possible for gamers to improve the lacklustre 2D visuals. The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for differently-abled gamers, left handed gamers or gamers using AZERTY or other international keyboard layouts. The game features no proper level design or game/story flow/plot, as they opted to try to use samey repetitive procgen algorithms as a substitute for adding such content to the game, to avoid doing the important job of level/map design. As a result, the game doesn't actually have any content worth mentioning, just endless, boring, repetitive, soulless algorithmically generated sameyness. Developers must learn that procedural generation is not an acceptable substitute for content. Because this is a mobile app, it carries a number of deliberate design deficiencies. Compromises were made to cater to the iPhones that the game was designed for. These are unfortunate handicaps and limitations that PC gamers shouldn't be forced to accept, but it's evident that PC was an afterthought for the iPhone developers who are to blame for this. The game is deficient as a result of these choices, and would have been so much better without the handicaps that designing games for mobile phones forces upon a game. Once more, mobile devs have made gaming worse for everyone. I didn't spend thousands on building a gaming rig just so I could pretend it's an iPhone. These technical shortcomings push this mobile app below minimum standards for any competently developed modern PC game. Let's talk about price and the value this represents for us gamers. Should you buy this mobile app? Is it among the best the Steam catalogue has to offer? This happens far more often than it should. Greedy mobile devs are attempting to scam PC gamers. On Steam this costs $15 USD, yet on the app stores it's only $5 USD. That is THREE TIMES THE PRICE you can buy it for on the app stores. Mobile devs must learn PC gamers are not here to be gouged, and can't be expected to pay a premium for a mobile app just because it's been lazily dumped on Steam at an inflated price. This is unacceptable disrespect for PC gamers. This mobile app is being sold at a deliberately inflated price to try to scam PC gamers into paying more money than mobile gamers do for the exact same iPhone game. They want you to pay $15 USD on Steam for a $5 USD mobile app!!! Just who do they think we are?
It's good! Pretty simple, and it's easy to learn the mechanics on your first run, but there's a deceptively large amount of room for tactical play. It's easy to assume this would be a generic Poke-clone, but the gameplay couldn't be more different. Being in control of your opponent's moves as well as your own adds an interesting depth that I've personally never seen done before. Creature designs are good. Some are a little generic, but all games of this type suffer from at least a *few* misses. I'd say there are more bangers overall though, with Gargullet, Armantis, and Carascohl being some of my favorites. Synergizing an effective team of 3 chimeras before reaching the boss is fun and satisfying when it comes together, but the equippable items are where the *real* game is. There's such a huge variety and - so far - I haven't come across anything that feels totally useless. Just about everything has the power to significantly change how you battle and even which chimeras you might want to take with you to the final stretch. This game has way more depth than you might initially give it credit for at a glance or a single session. Runs are quick and don't drag on forever, but not over so quickly that you feel cheated. Core loop is repetitive but chimera and item spawns keep it fresh and unpredictable. I definitely see myself returning to this one a lot. ( Metoposkliros best boy. Fight me. )
The charming visuals, diverse chimeras and bountiful equipment are a huge plus for the gameplay loop. Although the replayability is a little tedious when it comes to unlocking more chimeras, the core gameplay is solid without it being too complcated.
Определенно лучшая игра про собирательство монстров
