Dice With Death

I played this game too much (over 30 hours). Its fun, but once you reach this point and unlock everything there really isn't much incentive to keep playing. There's no gambling (number go up!) just win or lose so once I unlocked everything I had no reason to keep playing. Also, the melancholy vibe can be a little oppressive. Good variety of playstyles represented by each character and their side stories but these stories ultimately didn't reveal a more interesting plot or common thread between these characters nor did it expand on their ultimate demise. If the characters could have been fighting to escape death somehow it would have made a much more compelling story even if it was futile.

Bought Dice With Death because the idea sounded cool. Stayed because my dice rolls apparently have a personal vendetta against me and I’m loving every second of it. This game somehow turns rolling dice into pure tension. Every run feels like gambling with your soul in the best possible way. One minute you’re carefully planning the perfect strategy, the next you’re screaming at a cube because it betrayed your entire build. The combat is super satisfying, the synergies get surprisingly deep, and when a build finally comes together you feel like the smartest person alive… right until the game reminds you that overconfidence is a debuff. It has that dangerous “one more run” energy where you keep telling yourself you’ll stop after the next attempt, and suddenly it’s 3 AM and you’re still theorycrafting dice combos in your head. Absolutely recommended for anyone who enjoys roguelikes, strategy games, or emotional damage delivered through random numbers.

This is a Balatrolike that really hooked me. All of these games are fun, but this one really hit for me, and I don't even like Yahtzee! The game takes a familiar and relatively simple board game, and ramps everything up with the usual Roguelite game mechanics and for whatever reason this one does "IT" for me. The characters all play differently, the runs all play differently, and you get unlocks at a pleasant steady pace so runs consistently feel fresh. The game is a bit derivative of some others in the genera but it's hard to fault it for doing what works. The only real character you meet is Death, but they have a soothing personality and subtle charm giving the game a laid back feel. The music and sound are both minimal, but this is a game meant to be played while doing something else. Sure there are some interesting game play moments where you have to think threw choices, but once you understand the mechanics the relaxed pace of the game lets you mulit task with ease. I love this game, and full heartedly recommend you try the demo if this sounds at all like something you might enjoy. I know after a few games of the demo I was hooked and wanted a full copy.

This was a present from a friend and I wasn't sure what to think at first. But it's actually super interesting and Death is a really nice character!

Put about 26 hours into this game. Really addicting and fun in terms of building different dice sets and strategies to take on Death. Can get repetitive at times, but still a fun game. Would recommend if you love deckbuilding or dicebuilding kind of games.
