Reviews
I'd rather spend money on silvers for this dead game than Marathon. Even after butchering this game, it's a better product, the core foundation of Destiny is rock solid. My one hope is that Bungie gets some sense, builds a comprehensive game with all the raids, dungeons, strikes and quests.
epic game sad to see its current state of play with studio layoffs and end of updates. well worth some time.

⭐ (1/5) - "after 8 years i'm finally done with this game" Posted: July 2026 honestly i never thought i'd write this but here we are. bungie officially killed destiny 2 and i'm genuinely sad about it because i LOVED this game at one point. so for context i've been playing since the taken king expansion. yeah, i'm one of those people. i've run thousands of hours across strikes, raids, pvp, you name it. i convinced like 6 of my friends to play and we had an actual raid group for like 3 years. this wasn't just a game for me, it was how i hung out with people. the thing is the writing's been on the wall for a while. after The Final Shape came out earlier this year it felt different. like hollow? i didn't even realize what was happening until they announced in May that they're just... stopping. June 9th was the last update. the last patch just dropped a week ago and it's literally just bug fixes for a game that's never getting touched again. but here's what actually pisses me off. they didn't have to let it get here. the community was screaming for months that we needed literally ANY communication about what's next. instead bungie just went silent, moved most of their team to work on Marathon (their other game that honestly doesn't look great?), and quietly let destiny 2 fall apart. The Edge of Fate expansion earlier this year was the breaking point i think. they overhauled the endgame progression system with this "Portal" feature that almost nobody asked for and it was just... not it. player counts literally hit all-time lows on Steam. but instead of pivoting they just kept pushing the same monetization model harder. cosmetics got more expensive, events started charging for cosmetics that used to be free, it felt greedy. and i get it, game development is hard, but the SILENCE was the worst part. tell us what's happening. give us a roadmap. do SOMETHING. instead it was radio silence until the announcement that they're done. the gunplay in destiny has always been elite and honestly i'll never find another shooter that feels quite the same. that's not even bungie's fault, the actual gameplay is still good. but running the same strikes knowing nobody's ever going to add new content? knowing the story's just frozen? that's depressing as hell. my raid group hasn't logged in since June. we have a discord but it's basically dead now. one of them asked last week if anyone wanted to hop on and literally nobody responded. that's how you know it's over. if you're thinking about getting into destiny 2, don't. if you're already playing, cherish what you have because this is it. this is the game forever now. no new weapons, no new raids, no seasonal stories, nothing. just the same activity rotation until the servers eventually shut down in like 10 years. i'm not even that mad honestly, i'm just disappointed. bungie had something special and they chose money over their community at every turn. and now they're paying the price. might boot it up in a few months and run some raids with whoever's left, but the magic is gone. rest in peace destiny 2. you deserved better
incomprehensible for new players, impossible to do anything without random other players stealing kills - it's like a unique mix of impenetrable complexity and mind-numbing monotony.
