Takes getting used to, but very worth it.
A really interesting example of "video games meets art" as a concept. I think? You play as some kind of weird mech that goes around blasting CCTV cameras with guns stapped to them and other humans who take offence to your aesthetic choices. You can "tag" non-violent NPC humans to get money for stims. What do the stims do? lol, I'll let you know when I find out. Combat is rough but functional, you really do need to use the guard system to survive long term, so get used to putting your hands up and saying "talk to the hand" to those pesky bullets coming your way. I will say the enemy spawning and pathing is a little rough, for example there's a section past a wire fence where you can turn a corner into an alley and trigger an enemy to spawn - only you can trigger that enemy to spawn multiple times over, and trust me when I say you do NOT want that to happen. A few things missing in the menu and stuff like that (can't exit to main menu from gameplay, have to fully quit as one example, no control bindings page, no proper resolution/graphics settings, audio sliders work and save but don't affect anything, etc etc) but once this is cleaned up I reckon it'll be genuinely fun to romp around in. Can't wait to see what the 1.0 version of this looks like!

this game has a really cool premise and when its released you should check it out the soundtrack is rly good and the movement + fighting while a bit janky are very fun but you'll find the gameplay loop to get kinda boring after awhile

Although what's out right now is very rough, it's a very promising shooter with great aesthetics. Keep in mind, this Early Access version is not meant to be nearly as finished as the final game is going to be. It's supposed to, as it states, "incorporate player feedback and participation into the development process".
Piece of ♥♥♥♥ of a game
Updated review and wow I love this game so much the world building the sluggish controls it feels like your piloting a machine of agony into pits of guts and decay all for some machine to get its final high its practically pointless yet all so rewarding.
does not launch in full screen and no full screen option in menu.
I held off on posting this review for a while because the game is an early access state and in sort of limbo where you feel you can't criticize it because its simply early access and too soon to tell and wanted to complete the game before posting but there are things that need to be said. This game has an excellent atmosphere and soundtrack which is no wonder from James ferraro as well as the story premise is creative and interesting. The game does a great job at creating hopeless and broken world building. However, the gameplay is incredibly simple and uninspiring. There is some fun to be had, and that's through the difficulty aspect, the game is punishing and progression feels rewarding in a way to get past certain areas. However, the game has many many bugs at the moment and when you combine punishing gameplay with bugs and glitches it makes for a very frustrating and unfun experience. There is leeway in that EA titles have bugs, and this should be expected. Having said this at the same time I feel even if all the bugs were ironed out in early access the gameplay is just not very fun in general, being a very basic shooter with blocking mechanics and feel that it greatly requires an overhaul of some sort. There are some good attempts to change the gameplay up a bit, with weapon mods like automatic shooting you can equip and chemicals you can inject into your surrogate player, but don't really change how you approach or play the game. I would really like to see the weapon mods play around with more creative and experimental ways to play the game. I'm also not sure if chemicals are meant to be temporary or permanent stat increases, but at the moment it seems that chemical injections don't seem to make much of a difference gameplay wise. I feel it's not fair to post a review after not even beating the game and it's true, James has commented on this, that a lot of these reviews are quick to disparage the game after not giving it a true go, but the game in its current state has made progression and completing the game a frustrating and unrewarding experience and feel like I have seen enough to comment. I have high hopes for this game given James' utmost care in listening and implementing community feedback and hope to change this review to a positive one by the end of early access, the game is such a cool idea with a creative story, but at the current moment it wouldn't be fair to skew the reviews towards a positive one simply because its in EA when i don't believe that the game is worthy of the amount to pay for right now. If you're thinking of buying it, please wait.
