i'm obsessed. yes. buy this. i've cried in frustration but also in emotion to this story, it hits hard and it's an amazing game. thank you RD, can't wait what comes in the future.

Amazing game! Mind bending puzzles, really scratches at those long lost memories of trying to update drivers and understand the PCs of the 90's. If you like puzzle games, great aesthetics and a poignant story, check this one out! (Bring a notebook)

Absolutely wonderful game. The puzzles and aspect of diving through someone else's computer pulled me in, and the heartbreaking story kept me going. The characters are super compelling, and I really enjoyed the art style used for NextRooms. The ending is great, very beautiful. Genuinely I almost cried at the reveal during the final moments. Also absolutely beautiful soundtrack. I found myself opening tabs and entering areas just to listen to it.

Desktop Explorer is an absolutely fantastic game. As a mystery/investigation type game it is up there with Return of the Obra Dinn, Golden Idol and The Roottrees. I am saying this as someone that has played alot of the games in this genre, and I am not saying it lightly. Fantastic experience and I wished there were more games this well-made, especially in this game genre. The fact that Desktop Explorer is this studio's first release is almost mindblowing. As a "use older computer" type game it is one of the best going head to head with Roottrees and Hypnospace Outlaw in terms feeling like you are actually using the computer. The sounds and your inputs are so satisfying, and even if the freedom is contained it never felt restricted. The puzzles are great and varied. Some fairly easy, some more challenging, but none of them felt unfair or ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. It is possible to solve them all if you stop and think. So much satisfaction from solving the puzzles, particularly the ones that were a bit tricky. The game's look and sound and style are top tier. I have nothing negative to say, except that the trailer might have too many hints and spoilers. It took about 8 hours to beat this game and then about 1,5 hour to get all achievements. Worth full price if you like this type of game. One of the easiest recommendations this year.
