I love this game. I would still advise to grab Dekstop Dungeons Enhanced Edition, but Rewind is also really good once you give it a longer try. For sure it took me longer to get used to the new graphics, but they do work and the game is just as amazing as before - with some nice quality of life changes. It's also one of this stellar developer with a great community on discord still talking to this day about this gem. Combined with Desktop Dungeons Enhanced Edition I have over 600h and I still come back to every few months. Highly recommended for any fans of deep gameplay/knowledge games. It's truly a gem!
Desktop Dungeons hasn't changed - it's still brilliant, and will make you feel like a complete idiot when you finish the tutorial. It's possible you might bounce off the writing (it is, however, entirely skippable), but "finger-crossbows" absolutely destroyed me and made me think I didn't want to miss a single line this game had to offer. Hearing bong noises outside the elves' village and fratbros screaming outside the warrior's guild are also two very good memories.

While there are a number of things I like (inventory change new items etc) the changes to the UI and worse the playmap are terrible. The UI is just too 'busy' and has all the charm of a cheep mobile game. The map lacks good enough controls to avoid the walls frequently obscuring tiles next to them. Pure top down or even making the walls transparent on mouseover would help. or a 'classic' look option
Great game. I would give this full marks if their WIKI wasnt constantly getting 502 errors. https://www.qcfdesign.com/ is important for some challenges if you want to reference something, but they cannot get thier web hosting working properly.
The writing is funny, but the gameplay isn't mind-blowing, just barely okay. It just isn't interesting or engaging enough. The grind is slow, there is no story, you make few if any important decisions (which would make it a roguelke and interesting for me). Plus the gameplay gets repetitive and boring five hours in. I would not recommend, maybe when it is on sale.
I picked this game up on discount, and initially I thought it was fun and clever, but it swiftly became nearly impossible to progress. As someone who has never played its predecessor before, I was expecting it to ease you into the game. But you get a tutorial and then the difficulty makes it so difficult to progress. You have to take different characters into the adventures, and in a game like this usually you'd toil away, dying and retrying, while building up your town to make things a bit easier. But if you lose the adventure in this game you come back with nothing, or even less if you spent money on preparations to make it easier. So you can't really upgrade things if you aren't winning an adventure. Add to that that it's basically luck whether you find useful abilities, or indeed how quickly you find them. Each square you open up to look, you get health and mana, but you need that health later on, so if you can't find your skills quickly, you are set up to fail unless you are extremely good at it. I am not that good. I tried to improve by watching youtube videos on people playing it and then retrying myself, but I'm really tired and frustrated by just losing and losing and losing. I've got 7 hours in this game, and I've basically made no progress with it. So I'm giving it a thumbs down, because even with the difficulty slider put down to 50%, it didn't make enough of an impact, and I was still losing because of the luck element. I wanted to like the game, but I just don't because there's no progression if you aren't very skilled or lucky.
Perhaps I was too harsh on this game I received completely for free even though the devs had no reason to make it so. I instantly tried it as soon as it went live, being a fan of the original, and I hated the UI. Oh my god how I hated everything. You either don't see the entire map at once (a crime in a puzzle game as tight as this!) or you zoom out and get a horrible view where everything is super tiny, features camouglage against the background, and it's super unpleasant. Also, the little screens where you see what happens to your character and the enemy have separated for no good reason other than make it harder to parse the math (again, a crime in a puzzle game as tight as this). I instantly uninstalled it and did not think of it again. Until today. I decided to force myself tolerate the horrible crimes against UI and give it a honest go. The game is so, so good that it transcends the presentation. The puzzle is so good, so solid, I've been playing it nonstop since. The rebalancing from the og is a welcome change, and all the new bells and whistles are lovely. I can see myself playing this for a long, long time
Интересная игра, рекомендую. Жанр что-то вроде пазл-рогалик.
Surprising depth for such a short game. Tons of fun.
