Reviews
This is the only game out there that gives an accurate simulation of how most of us hunt deer in the US. Don't start with the "quick hunt" or "action hunt" or whatever it's called in the menu. That's what I did and I thought I had wasted my money. Luckily I started a campaign and I was pleasantly surprised. The Positives: - The maps ain't massive, but look great and are well designed. You can even make your own maps using the map maker that's built into the game. I'm still figuring it out but you can be as creative as you want with it. - Audio is nice and really gives you some good immersion. - The campaign format where you have different stages of the season is amazing. Just like real life, you can only use certain weapons during certain times of the year. - I have yet to encounter a bug. Game mechanics are solid. - Procedurally generated game trails and antler growth keeps things interesting. Combined with the make maker feature, this allows for infinite replayability. - Blackpowder smoke that lingers is an awesome touch. - Wind check tool is the powder style squeeze bottle. It's really cool how well it works and floats realistically in the wind. I'd love to be able to use milkweed in the future. - Trophy cabin that you can load into and view all of the deer you've mounted. You can display them on full body mounts in different poses. (shoulder mount option would be a nice addition) - Performance is good and stable. I'm able to play on my laptop and it's lower to mid range budget. - Rut behavior. Bucks will chase a hot doe during rut and will sometimes respond to grunt call. - ATV has great utility. It can be used to plant food plots, haul stands to and from, and haul deer out. - Shed hunting is a wildly unique feature. - Once hunting season starts, your ladder stands and cameras can't be moved. I'd like the ability to be able to move cameras, but not ladder stands. During hunting season, there's a climbing stand and a blind on the ATV that you can equip and use for flexibility. The Negatives: - Janky object models. The ATV looks like it was pasted into this game from Halo 1. The deer don't look great, but they don't look terrible either. Doesn't matter much to me with the gameplay being so good. The flintlock rifle has misaligned sights and doesn't look very good. - ATV functionality. Needs actual steering, not just rotation on a dime. Not a big deal to me though for now. - No option to assign keybinds, or view them in game. - No multiplayer. - Would like to see large maps in the future. - UI is very dated. Overall thoughts: Don't form an opinion until you have a few sits in the stand. Hats off to this developer for having a vision and making it happen. The bigger hunting games out there don't simulate how we actually hunt. I was happy to pay the full price for this game in hopes that my money will go towards improving this game, and making an even better version in the future. This game is like a rusty knife that's still solid throughout, made of quality steel, and with a sharp cutting edge.

I'm 50/50 on this game. This concept of this hunting game is what I would love a bigger title like Call of the Wild or Way of the Hunter to do. The ability to plant food plots and use trail cams is a ton of fun. There are some good looking racks in the game including some drop tines. Hunting the rut is a ton of fun it this game. The bad: The graphics are very dated, however this doesn't bother me but may bother you if you want the game to look top of the line. The guns and bows need an update for more consistency when shooting (They're not awful, just need improvement). This game is for the patient hunter, you may have to sit for 15-20 minutes to get a good deer if you get one at all. This doesn't bother me, however if you are use to tent hopping from Call of the Wild this a completely different style hunting game but it is still very rewarding.
Spent an hour setting up stands and farming the food plots then saw a huge buck opening day of muzzleloader and completely smoked the tree 3 feet above him. 10/10
Great game that tries to target how real life hunting would be simulated. You have to plant food plots, find deer trials, and hang stands accordingly. Some updated graphics and some more brought to the game would make it go from great to amazing.
Very fun game and I definitely recommend giving it a try, especially if they have a sale at some point. Ballistics need a pretty serious update though. The compound has a VERY limited range. Adding the ability to trim branches and foliage would also improve quality of life, but that is just me being nitpicky.
Game play is very realistic but the mechanics are a cross between The Way of The Hunter and ROBLOX! The controls will cause you to loose track and make mistakes in the worst moments. As basic as it is, if given control option, it would make it more playable. Could be the greatest thing ever if someone would build from this.
pretty solid little game i see the picture of what the dev is going for would like to see more in the map making plant and tree wise i love making pine thickets but its difficult with the pine in the game being thin similar to Virginia pine a loblolly or long leaf type would make better thickets would also like to maybe see mtn laurel or southern Appalachia type plants other then that like i said pretty solid little game!
The hunting part leaves a lot to be desired, but the map builder is fun. Both need a lot of updating, but have a lot of potential. Management is fun too, but again, there is a lot that could be improved. On the right track though.
A fun game for sure! Its definitely a work in progress but its an ambitious game concept anyway. As an enthusiast of Deer hunting this game is the most accurate representation of hunting in my opinion that is out right now highly recommend if you are into hunting!! Oehly Deer Hunting on YouTube definitely recommends this game.
just got this game, theres a few bugs, some major and some not, but i absulutely love this game
