About
Dear Magical Girls is a story-driven defense game where you reshape a magical barrier to hold back waves of beasts.
Arin is a magical girl in her fourth year on the job, tasked with protecting the mana stones that keep the city’s magical infrastructure running.
Between sleepless shifts and emergency dispatches, she enters the Otherworld, raises her barrier, and fights off the beasts lurking within.
Move the vertices of your barrier to expand or shrink your territory.
Attack enemies with mana cannons that travel along the barrier lines.
Expand your territory to secure more resources.
Shrink the barrier to concentrate your firepower in a smaller area.
Keep buffs inside the barrier, and push harmful debuffs out.
You’ll need to keep reshaping your barrier based on the state of the battlefield and the position of nearby resources.
When things get dangerous, stop time, reposition your vertices, and prepare for the next attack.
Use the mana gained from expanding your barrier to add new vertices.
More vertices allow you to form more complex barrier shapes, increasing your offensive options.
Upgrade your attack power and attack speed, and build the shape and firepower you need for each wave.
As the story progresses, new modules and enchants will be unlocked.
Equip new attack modules, and use enchants to enhance the traits of your existing ones.
Reshape your barrier around the movement and attack patterns of your modules.
With each wave, the beasts grow stronger. Victory depends on how you shape your barrier and manage your mana.
After each mission, you’ll return to the city and see Arin’s life as a magical girl.
Meet Charlotte, a veteran magical girl; Lily, a girl who admires magical girls; and the people living throughout the city.
As emergency calls keep coming and mysterious disappearances begin to unfold, Arin draws closer to the truth behind mana, magic, and the magical girls themselves.

Developed by GIGABlock Studio and published by Jungle Game Lab, Dear Magical Girls is a free-to-play strategy game that offers a refreshing spin on the magical girl genre by replacing lighthearted heroics with a more grounded and emotionally driven tale. Rather than focusing solely on flashy transformations and victorious battles, the game follows Arin, a veteran magical girl who has spent years defending her city from mysterious threats lurking within the Otherworld. Beneath its colorful pixel-art presentation lies a narrative centered on duty, fatigue, and the unseen sacrifices required to protect ordinary people. This mature perspective helps distinguish the game from many titles that rely on familiar anime conventions, giving its story a more reflective and memorable tone. The gameplay revolves around an inventive defensive system that encourages constant adaptation instead of static planning. Players manipulate the shape of a magical barrier by moving and expanding its vertices across the battlefield. This barrier is much more than a protective wall, as it also determines the firing paths of powerful mana cannons. Enlarging the barrier increases the amount of territory and resources under the player's control, while contracting it concentrates offensive strength into a tighter area. Every adjustment changes the flow of battle, making positioning just as important as timing. The ability to pause the action and reshape the barrier during intense encounters adds another layer of tactical depth, rewarding thoughtful decision-making instead of simple reflexes. Progression extends beyond surviving enemy waves by allowing players to gradually customize their magical defenses. As more mana is gathered, new barrier vertices become available, creating increasingly flexible defensive layouts. Equipment modules and enchantments further expand strategic possibilities by altering the behavior of weapons and providing different combat advantages. These systems encourage experimentation, allowing players to discover combinations that complement their preferred style of play. Instead of relying entirely on traditional upgrades that simply raise numerical statistics, Dear Magical Girls emphasizes creativity and strategic planning, making progression feel meaningful throughout the campaign. Outside of combat, the game shifts its attention toward character interactions and world-building. Arin's daily life reveals the emotional burden carried by magical girls who are expected to protect society while quietly enduring overwhelming responsibilities. Supporting characters such as the experienced Charlotte and the optimistic Lily help develop the setting while providing different perspectives on the magical girl's role within the city. As strange disappearances and unexplained incidents begin to escalate, the story gradually evolves into a larger mystery that ties together the nature of mana, the Otherworld, and the true cost of maintaining peace. These quieter narrative moments successfully balance the action sequences, making players feel more invested in both the characters and the world they are defending. Visually, the game embraces detailed pixel art that effectively contrasts vibrant urban environments with the unsettling atmosphere of supernatural battlefields. The barrier itself creates a unique visual centerpiece during combat, making each encounter look distinct as players continuously reshape the battlefield. The interface remains clear despite the strategic complexity, allowing players to focus on planning without unnecessary clutter. Combined with its melancholic soundtrack and anime-inspired aesthetic, the presentation reinforces the game's themes of hope, perseverance, and quiet sacrifice. Although its mechanics may require some patience to fully master, Dear Magical Girls succeeds by offering ideas that feel genuinely original within the strategy genre. The unusual barrier-based combat system separates it from conventional tower defense games, while its character-driven narrative gives emotional significance to every mission. Players looking for nonstop action may find its slower, more tactical pace demanding, but those willing to embrace its strategic systems and thoughtful storytelling will discover an experience that stands apart from many independent releases. Rating: 9/10
짧고 재밌고. 무료라서 더 좋고
I really liked this game, my only complaint is that I cannot give money to the developers. Seriously, this game is kinda fire. Story was acceptable, that dark malhou shoujo stuff that got popular with Madoka Mágica (one of my top5 animes), pixel art is really good and the soundtrack, albeit it lacks some variety imo, really improves the gameplay experience. However, what really elevates this gem is the gameplay. Upgrading and positioning the crystals, what and when to upgrade, which weapons to use, all those decisions bring a lot of personal experience and replayability into the game. Found the boss gimmicks very creative, only disliked that one that freezes your crystals, that was annoying lmao. Speaking of negatives, I really wish there was more interactivity on the world, since the pixel art is really pretty and detailed, which is a shame. Overall, a very fun, albeit short, experience. Not only that, it is free, so no reason to not try it out.
being a magical girl is suffering
되게 신선한 타워디펜스 게임 독특해서 즐기기 좋아요 스토리가 슬퍼요 ㅠ 나이트메어 모드에 스토리 추가가 크게 없는건 아쉬워요
