Deadlock: Planetary Conquest

I enjoy playing this game, a tiny amount of politics, a lot of strategy, the AI puts up a good fight, some buiding and development. There are more complicated and more challenging games, but when you want a quick game (1-2 hours) that's still gives a challenge, this fits the bill. Each game you play has a generated map so you never play the same map twice. You pick your race and location at the start of the game. Each race has different strengths and weakness that needs you to change how you play depending on the race you pick. The start location ideally has all the resources need, plus a defensible location. Then you have to build, defenses, troops, resources and housing. You need to manage it all and keep your eye on the enemy. If the AI thinks you have a weakness you will be attacked, even on Easy. So far no bugs, the game runs fine on my Windows 11 PC, and the AI doesn't cheat. BUT it is always working, so you have to.

What a game! I remember playing this back in the 90's and loving it. Coming back to it in 2026 still brings the same vibes. The UI is dated and a bit clunky, but the game is still so playable. Funny lines, colorful characters, well balanced dynamics. I wish they made a new version! To make this work on Linux: (1) Delete WAIL32.DLL from the game folder (2) Run it on Proton-GE (this might not be necessary but it's my setup (3) Select the "launch_fix2" version (4) Install Gamescope (5) Add this to the Game Launcher: "gamescope -w 640 -h 480 -W 1920 -H 1080 -f -- %command%" so that it runs full screen.

日本語レビューが無さそうなので（日本語非対応なので当然っちゃあ当然） 日本語版を買い逃して３０年後悔してた自分が通りますよ、と。 小規模な都市開発シムとＣｉｖ的なストラテジーを合わせたターンベースＳＬＧで、 やや大味なところはあれど短時間でさっくり楽しめる良作です。 慣れるまでは覚えることが多くて大変ですが、そこを越えた先がホント楽しい。 当然全編英語、しかも昔のゲームなので文字は米粒ですが 拡大鏡機能やリアルタイム翻訳などといった文明の利器を駆使すれば十分遊べるはず。 さあ今すぐガリウスIV. 有償販売にも関わらず現行環境では起動すら出来ないすごいゲームですが、 対処法はここのコミュニティに載ってるので読んでおきましょう。 当然英語ですがスクショ込みで分かりやすく書かれているので このゲームに興味を惹かれてしまうような人であれば問題無いと思われます。 ただし音楽と効果音は出ないのでそちらは別の方法も参考に。 iso形式をそのまま取り込んでＣＤ起動という裏技もゴニョゴニョ（要win98互換モード）

As others have stated, it either doesn't work, or you have to do some file manipulation that "might" work. But that fix isn't guaranteed, and you also don't get all the game sounds or music. Save your money.

Loved it back then, and its still not a bad game. Easy to play hard to master its hard cause riots will be your biggest problem once you grow. In generall it didnt aged to bad.
