Dead Reset

Я нечасто граю в FMV-ігри, бо зазвичай вони відчуваються як фільм, який іноді просить натиснути кнопку. Але з Dead Reset усе виявилося трохи цікавіше. Це брудний, кривавий фантастичний хорор, який взагалі не соромиться бути дешевим фільмом категорії “B”, і саме через це він працює. Головний герой застрягає в часовій петлі на підводному об’єкті, де експерименти, як і годиться, дуже швидко йдуть не за планом. Тебе регулярно ставлять перед вибором, але найсмішніше, що більшість рішень усе одно приводять до чергової жорстокої смерті. Замість того щоб дратувати, це поступово перетворюється на головну розвагу. Ти вже не думаєш, як вижити, а починаєш перевіряти, наскільки безглуздо тебе вб’ють цього разу. Акторська гра місцями переграна, декорації виглядають недорогими, а деякі діалоги викликають зовсім не ту емоцію, яку, мабуть, планували автори. Але все це дивним чином додає грі шарму. Вона не намагається здаватися великим серйозним хорором, а просто кидає в тебе монстрами, кров’ю, криками та чорним гумором. Найбільше сподобалося проходити різні гілки й дивитися, як один маленький вибір змінює наступні сцени. Побачене можна пропускати, тому пошук інших шляхів і фіналів не перетворюється на суцільне повторення. Самого класичного геймплею тут майже немає, тому тим, хто очікує повноцінний survival horror, гра навряд чи зайде. Але як інтерактивний вечірній фільм на кілька проходжень Dead Reset працює чудово. Дивно, криваво, місцями тупо, але дуже весело. Іноді саме такого хорору й не вистачає. __________________________________ I do not play FMV games very often because most of them feel like movies that occasionally ask you to press a button. Dead Reset turned out to be a bit more entertaining than that. It is a grimy, bloody sci-fi horror game that fully embraces its low-budget B-movie energy, and honestly, that is exactly why it works. The main character is trapped in a time loop inside an underwater facility where, unsurprisingly, a scientific experiment goes horribly wrong. The game constantly gives you choices, but the funny part is that most of them still lead to another brutal death. Instead of becoming frustrating, dying slowly turns into the main attraction. At some point, you stop trying to survive and start wondering how ridiculously the game is going to kill you next. The acting is over-the-top, the sets sometimes look cheap, and a few lines are funny for reasons the writers probably did not intend. Somehow, all of that adds to the charm. The game is not trying to be a deeply serious horror masterpiece. It just throws monsters, blood, screaming, and dark humor at you and keeps moving. The best part is exploring the different paths and seeing how one small choice can completely change the following scenes. Previously watched footage can be skipped, so replaying the story to find new routes and endings does not become too tedious. There is very little traditional gameplay, though, so anyone expecting a full survival horror experience will probably be disappointed. As an interactive horror movie for a few evening playthroughs, Dead Reset is great. It is weird, gory, occasionally stupid, and genuinely fun. Sometimes that is exactly the kind of horror I want.
