So the fact that most of the cosmetics are locked behind a several hundred dollar patreon paywall and not earnable in-game aside, (at this point these kinds of predatory business practices are now sadly so common it's become the norm) and the absolutely dogpoopy flying mechanics in this game aside (these are dragons, not airplanes xD), (I seriously never thought I'd point to Path of Titans as the gold standard for striking a balance between making the animal feel heavy, but not unfun to learn the quirks with skill and time, but here we are)... All that aside... what drove me away.... was the community and admins of official servers. Imagine if you will, you are trying to walk through a door THAT YOU MUST PASS THROUGH along with everyone else to progress, and as you are reaching for that door another player rushes up, shoves you aside GLARES AT YOU for being in /their/ way, and tells you that you're the bumhole for being annoyed at them and letting them know that was rude as you are now trying to find /another/ door to go through because this one COULD HAVE LET US BOTH THROUGH, but now only this knuckle dragger can use it. That's end game progression in a nutshell - on the PVE servers mind you, so you can't attack and kill them or defend the door. That was bad.. but I was still willing to play the game.. but what did me in and has made it so I will NEVER recommend this game, was the admin response. They were not only unhelpful but FANNED THE FLAMES, and acted like the entitled doorknobs that they were, saying that it's part of the game to "solo" these endgame "doors" (crystals) and that in fact it was all of the rest of us who were jerks for calling them on it. And OH BOY was that breeding some serious toxicity and venom in the community. Like in PVP? Hell yeah. Salt mines all the way... But PVE??? Nah man, that's whack. So if unsupportive, rude mods and admins and their sycophant apologists are your jam on top of nearly a thousand dollar buy in of you want the cool shiny skins/pearls/dragons then have at. But this one's not for me fam. I was actually trying really hard to like this game, I love the breeding, and I even found a really nice Clan who were the ONLY reason I came back, but the community mods for the official servers just absolutely killed it for me. I still sometimes get on a small server with nice people, but the small servers don't have the numbers or money for skins so getting nested is near impossible and breeding for god stats is a laughable joke without sinking MORE money into additional accounts. Oh and when I asked the mods point blank about something that was in the patreon that I couldn't see because I'm not giving this game another cent, they blew me off completely and never replied. This thing was deeply important to a core game mechanic and a lot of people were acting quite cruelly because of the misinformation. And the devs/admins/mods were happy to just let that fester as well. So frustrating from top to bottom. So, are there some "diamond in the ruff" things about this game? Absolutely. I love dragons and being able to for once not play another boring human. I love breeding and the fact that, for the most part, you can get "nested" into any skin. But the Admin's ruined for me, and the Devs seem... Unsure how the game should be, so we recently got a skin that is amazingly cool, but just has flat %0.5 chance to happen and only via a player's nest... and no way to actually boost that possibility. This albino skin issue is a systemic problem that is, imho, connected to the devs starting to be a little to "Dev Brain" and disconnected from the community that actually /plays/ the game every day.

good luck growing map so vast yes so very empty. even the herbivore is much like the great panda where you can only one specific plant; ;) don't worry the game will spawn you far away from it so you can die attempting to get there. or the wiggle worm dragon that needs water? oh yeah you'll be like just far enough to die on the water's edge. Predator babies have like spiders and toxic mushrooms to eat. the bio-lum dragon is fine, there just one type of flower you can eat though it is on the cherry blossom island, so if you don't spawn close you get to die for fun. Honestly get this on sale. pros: the designs are lovely, the map is huge cons: the map is huge, you can't fly as a baby or juvie, resources are hard to find consistently [you can be in water and it won't let you drink; also the map is very bare bones I'd like to mark where I found food in game], dying is really easy, there is no music in game just ambient noises, emoticon packs that are part of the game play are locked behind pay walls for certain dragons. If you get it please get it on sale
For a game that I expected to be really creative? I spent between 300-400 dollars on DLC just to feel disappointed by a still early access game. Sure it's still in development but the fact I've spent this much AND know my friend WHO DID THE KICKSTARTER AND DIDN'T GET HIS KICKSTARTER ROLE! Still has yet to get it even after the manager said "Yeah no you're not a kickstarter" even after showing evidence and defending his CASE so no. Not recommended, don't back this project and DO NOT trust them. Waste of 500 hours
i have played day of dragons for long time and game is amazing in graphic but pvp admins are bias and hide in clans jump on give enemy clans unessery warning but will let there clan mesh and explote when reported for when you have died to them meshing and using exploits and you report it they make up excuse to not give you restore or grow. they will also give grows restore for there clan easly.
There's no way I'm recommending this to anyone. The flight mechanics are the only thing good about this game. You literally just sit and grow. Nothing else. There's no point of this game other than try not to starve. Dragons are locked behind paywalls, the only pretty dragon can never be obtained except for asking someone to nest you in. This is a money grab game. Don't pay for this. I've been here since early access, hoping it would get better, but no. It's just a sitting simulator. So much is required to actually talk with people to be nested into a pretty skin or into a dragon thats 'special'. This has gotten me so angry and i wish i could get a refund. Don't bother with this game, it won't get better. Those pretty blue dragons in the trailer? Not playable unless you get nested in and only 1000 or 2000 people own it, so good luck with that.
I feel like the game hasn't gone anywhere and the servers are dead now, only played twice now.
The idea and graphics are cool, but the flying mechanic is absolutely stupid as ♥♥♥♥. You spawn in the corner of the map at the bottom left and you're practically ♥♥♥♥♥♥ when your sniff no longer works for whatever. Could be really cool, but honestly my biggest issue is that the flying mechanic is so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ dumb. Honestly want my money back if it isn't fixed.
Dead game.
Worst game ever! and i played Ark with all its buggyness I would still choose to play Ark over a game that tells you nothing. Lazy game mechanics.... starts as an egg with nothing told to player to do. Just bad stamina, slow as hell walk speed. No objectives! I don't really like hand holding in a game. But i also don't want to be thrown into the middle of the ocean and told to swim for shore. This game is just a cash grab with beautiful environments.. I paid $20 for this game and even that was too much in my opinion.
I know I just bought the game but I wish to spread that it's not as bad as people make it out to seem. I can understand the frustration of having DLCs but all the content from DLCs can be given by other players for absolutely free. Players can hatch other players as any dragon and this is constantly happening. Most players have most dragons. Many of them without paying more than just the base game. I spoke to a few of the players and learnt that a lot of the complaints about bad updates were from a year ago. Since then it seems the team behind this game have really put in the effort to improve and make worthwhile updates. The community is wonderful and the overall mechanics take a while to master but once you learn how to fly you'll feel so proud of yourself <3 Please take some time to read through this game's positive reviews and join the discord before judging based on the lower rated comments. My overall rating: 8/10
