Story is very well written. Although I don't often play these types of games, I'm forced to acknowledge that this one is pretty good.

This is such a gem of a game! The characters felt like real people with complex personalities, and I even found myself feeling a little miffed a couple of times when they didn't take my dialogue options well - something I'm pretty hard-pressed to encounter in visual novels, as I'm usually good at gauging those things. The soundtrack and art is utterly charming. Everything about this game feels like a labor of love. Arjun was my absolute favorite character to pursue as a Desi person who's faced the exact same issues with my family. The diversity in this game is true diversity - it's not just white people with a paint job. Despite the characters of color seeming to have fairly "stereotypical" character arcs (SPOILERS:
Desi guy has controlling parents, Black girl is tough and abrasive
), they don't feel like the stereotypes
of Desi and Black characters
I've seen in other media - it's clear that these characters were written with compassion and from real lived experiences rather than laziness on the part of the writers. Overall, a fantastic game that accomplishes what it sets out to do very well. Don't miss Curtain Call!
"Curtain Call" is not a game, it's an e-book that's been dumped on Steam masquerading as a game. As a visual/interactive novel, this doesn't feature any notable gameplay, it's just a lot of clicking through badly written dialogue that would never have been accepted or published in print, which poses the question, "How did something this badly written end up on Steam?". When someone hoping to become an author is unable to get published in print, they spend $100 and dump their high school fan-fiction onto Steam, under the guise of a game. While the typical "anime fantasy" theme is absent from this e-book, the high school anime club dropout fan-fiction writing is there in full force in this LGBTQIA+ friendly e-book about, you guessed it, the authors various girlfriends and boyfriends. Ugh. This time the author writes about all the imaginary people that date them at college, because they're really popular. Cringe. What's troubling here is the presence of a large number of fake/paid reviews from the Russian review farm uncovered by Sentinels of the Store. It's bad enough to write garbage fan-fictions about imaginary boyfriends, it's another thing entirely to pay Russians to write reviews about how great you are as an author writing about your imaginary friends. Visual novels/e-books are tedious at best... imagine the best novel you ever read, be that Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy or 2001: A Space Odyssey or Twilight (if you have terrible taste in literature), but then translate that to a format where the words dribble out and you have to click your mouse every time you wanted to read the next sentence, instead of just turning the pages. You'd think it was garbage. Now imagine that experience, but with much worse writing (because if these guys could write professionally, they'd be published authors and this would be on shelves in bookstores, and they wouldn't have to pay Valve $100 to self-publish this on Steam), and you have your average Steam e-book. One of the chief problems with failed authors polluting Steam with non-game E-books is that E-books can easily just be presented in a web browser... there's no justification for charging money on Steam for what might as well be a webpage. We don't spend thousands on buying a gaming rig to spend money on Steam for something Chrome or Firefox could do. Despite having no up-front cost, this failed to appeal to the 130 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the e-book peaked at only 7 concurrent readers... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. The funny thing is, if you wanted to print this book, you'd only need to print 7 copies to satisfy the entire world's demand for it. While this E-book is "free", you can get better quality, professionally written books and comics for free online (from places like Project Gutenberg) or from public libraries. Steam isn't a comic book store, neither is it Netflix, it's for games. Your gaming rig is not a Kindle. It's impossible for me to recommend things to PC gamers that aren't really games. They're all written in either Russian or broken English, appear at almost exactly the same time, very shortly after this launched on Steam, and the accounts are used consistently to write fake reviews for asset flips and other cash grabs/scams. The "Positive" review score on this should be disregarded due to this blatant, unethical review manipulation. This is done to deceive and scam gamers into paying for a bad product. Due to the 2024 FTC ruling (16 CFR Part 465), these fake reviews are a violation of US Federal Law.
Only went with Jodie so far so i'll probably replay it in the future but yeah a fun small indie VN.
i wish this had an actual ending and didnt get all buggy when you start a new save file :(
Very pretty art style with a deep story for all the characters. It was very intriguing and nice to relax too
Short, interesting, good character development. The only con of the game for me was that there wasn't really an "end." You get to know the characters, work them through the issues in their lives, and then it's just over. Other than that though, it's a calming, nice game.
The characters are so cute and I loved the interactions :) 10/10 game!
