Great game. Basicly an old style WWII Garo submarine simulator, where graphics is on the retro side, but usually you spend your most time on the naval map. There is a campaign mode, where you perform patrols with various optional side missions and goal is to cause as much damage to Japanese navy as possible. Based on your results, you will get some money at the end of the mission which you can spend on various upgrades. Do not expect Dangerous Waters realism, but it is also far from being an arcade shooter, as you can easily be destroyed by enemy destroyers and sub-chasers, and even if you survive a battle, you can lose skilled crew members.

This game is consuming my life - love it. I've tried many subsims, but this one hits that sweet spot of tension and complexity. Play it on EASY mode to learn the systems - switch to something harder for more satisfaction. Nonstop action with the waypoint system and frequent radio updates/missions. Recommended for the price. Have already bought the ALEUTIAN ISLANDS expansion.
Fun blowing stuff up.
submarines require stealth and this game can provide the correct environments. Cool game.
Got very late in Crash Dive 2: notably, after playing 59 hours on Silent Depth II. Well: this is completely different and I must say that CD2 it might not have SDII's bells and whistles on the graphic side, but it has a surprising, "immersive depth". While may look "simpler" at atfirst glance, it has countless options to mod the game's difficulty. It presents vast theater of operations, occasional and diverse secondary missions, and a thorough ASW-evading challenge against the ever-present enemy sub-chasers. An appreciated, sometimes light-hearted "quasi-sim". It's not SHIII or 688i, but it takes the seas with great élan and that is something.
