Hidden Gem. Been extremely hyped for the release of the game since playing the demo. It's fun and addictive. Easy to learn, hard to master. PS: Progress from the demo does and can carry over if you choose for it to do so. 10/10 Highly recommend. WELL WORTH the price.
Great roguelite where each run introduces new items and buildings to make the next run have more in depth combos. Very hard to put down, even harder to avoid rushing through weeks for that sweet clicky sound of scoring.
games are quick but by combining the 2 of the 7 guild every run, it still provides enough content to try new things
Haha funny buildings go brrrrr
Build slop, Pick 3 slop, Milestone slop, roguelike slop, fun slop Its good! Buy it
This game is amazing. I sunk over 6 hrs in the demo and maxed out all the the guild levels I could. I've already put in 4 hrs into the full version and can say I'm enjoying the additional combinations available with the other guilds. Can't wait to put more time into this game.
If Balatro is the gamification of Hold'em Poker, Combolands is a solitaire similar to Balatro but as a citybuilder. Overall, I'd give it a solid 8/10 with room for improvement. I really like the concept of different guilds, but I'm slightly disappointed that the maps are so small and the experience is short lived. I'd almost like to try a size 4x larger where I might need to scroll around a bit and the "match" lasts ~2 hours. The random map generations provide enough variation to keep wanting to try "one more time, one more time" and even though at ~2 hours played I've played 3 rounds and won one time, I'd say this might be a game worth sticking with. The concept of what 'triggers' what and discerning when something triggers versus how you as the player can manipulate that trigger are all the mechanics you need to know to get you going. In general, you place the best option you have at the best location it could be at, until you realize you might have made a mistake later and need to remove it. The loop is clean, but the mechanics have some amount of depth that is difficult to gauge with such a short time played. I haven't tried this game yet on Steamdeck, but it might be the perfect "sleepytime" game if the controls on controller are anywhere near acceptable. Edit: Immediately after I wrote this review, the next guild unlocked and it started to click how progression works in this game. Id probably say 9/10 quality overall. Really cool idea.
