What can I say, it was love at first sight. Given my passion for roguelikes with semi-random draft mechanics, I didn't have many doubts. Combolands has a lot of elements that just work: the combos (nomen omen 😄) between different buildings, the ability to mix guilds, the heirlooms that give boosts ranging from negligible to phenomenal, and the council members who can grant incredible buffs at just the right moment... all of this tied together by a point-chain mechanic that delivers an incredibly satisfying feeling when it pops up on the screen. It's a game that allows for quick 30 to 40-minute sessions, but quickly becomes extremely addictive!
This is a stellar roguelite that requires solid planning to successfully complete a run of, especially at the higher difficulties. Each two-guild combination lends itself to different strategies - some will have better synergy, some will have weaker starts, but each pair presents its own strategies, especially once you factor in pulling buildings from other factions via the blueprint system. The optional increased difficulty levels are significant challenges, requiring tighter and tighter play to succeed as you progress. I'll be playing this one for a while. Strong recommend if you're into city builders, tabletop games where placing tiles to build engines is the core theme, and players who want a game that avoids the roguelite trap where it becomes easy to play by reflex far too early.

Incredibly intuitive! It's one of those that seem simple at first until you lose and then you start to learn its many nuances. The different starting choices add a lot of replay value as in you can only pick two but the two you pick have different synergies the others won't. Im a bit surprised at how deep this is yet how quick of a roguelike it is as well. (Let's be honest here...a lot of roguelikes lately have 1 or more hr runs, this is more like 20-25 mins to complete if that.) Im diggin this one...it has the sauce.
Citybuilder Balatro
Great game! I've played a lot of placement rogue-like city builders but this one is more accessible, more strategic and there's a lot more game-breaking combos and synergies!
I LOVE IT! Hardcore roguelike fan, not so many city builder fan.. but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ I love this game. Still learning and unlocking, haven't had any game breaking combos yet but I am working on it! I truthfully believe even if this isn't your type of game.. you should still try it. Gameplay is pretty quick so no getting stuck on runs lasting hours. Unlocks also come fairly quick and help out gameplay. Music ain't too bad either lol. For $10, it is 10000% worth it. Excited for future updates
Very fun game. Perfect for runs between classes or other commitments, and itches the Balatro number building itch and city building itch.
Extremely fun game
Incredibly fun roguelike - the different guilds give an incredible amount of combinations and synergies which boosts replayability, and the art style is charming and works with the gameplay very well. It's very satisfying to get a good run going, and the endless mode is actually fun given how much of a delight it is to keep building out the map. Easy recommend if you like roguelikes of any stripe.
well this is way more fun than i could possibly imagine holy ♥♥♥♥
