Un bel gioco, un simulatore di sottomarini ambientato nel periodo della guerra fredda. Tra i vari sottomarini nel gioco ci sono anche i tre sottomarini che ci sono nel film :" Caccia a ottobre rosso" ovvero i sottomarini di classe: los angeles, typhoon (il più grande sottomarino mai costruito) e alpha. Ahimé però nel gioco di base si possono usare solo sottomarini della nato e solo ed esclusivamente sottomarini statunitensi e perciò non si possono usare né l'alpha né il Typhoon. Ma c'è una mod che risolve questo problema e permette di utilizzare anche i sottomarini russi e cinesi e permette di giocare la campagna anche nel loro schieramento ed aggiunge anche sottomarini di altre nazioni nella campagna dalla parte della nato, cose che sarebbero state di certo apprezzate se fossero già state nel gioco originale ma magari gli sviluppatori faranno un aggiornamento al riguardo chissà, e oltre a ciò aggiunge alcune meccaniche di gioco e la possibilità di giocare la campagna utilizzando una nave da guerra al posto di un sottomarino. Oltre a ciò c'è anche da dire che la campagna è un tantino breve secondo me, nelle mie partite ho finito la campagna senza fallire nessuna missione, ordine o obbiettivo in un massimo di 20 giorni alla difficoltà massima. Inoltre nel mondo di gioco e nei vari scontri non ci sono unità alleate, a parte quelle rappresentate simbolicamente nella mappa del mondo, il che fa sembrare di essere l'unica unità schierata nel conflitto. Comunque tutto sommato è un bel gioco, divertente e ti tiene bello concentrato in certe situazioni serrate. It's a good sub sim game that take place during the cold war, in it there are also the 3 submarine that are in the movie:" Hunt for red october" the los angels,alpha and typhoon class( the typhoon is the biggest submarine ever created). Alas you in the base game you can only use nato submarines and esclusively u.s.a subs so you can't use the typhoon or alpha class subs. But there is a mod that fix this problem and allow you to play the campain on the russian and cinese side and add subs of other nations on the nato side. The mod also add some new mechanics to the game and allow you to play the campaign using a warship instead of a submarine,nontheless if all this were already in the base game it would have been already better but maybe in the future the dev are going to make an update about it , who knows? Sadly the campaign is a little short, in all the campaigns i played i finished them in 20 game days completing every mission,order or objective at the hardest difficulty. Also in the game there aren't allied unit, only on the world map there are some reppresented simbolicaly but there aren't in the sea and in the battles, it makes you feel like you are the only unit deployed in the entire conflict. Nontheless it's a good game, fun and keep you focused in the more tense combat situation.
