About

One of 2022’s most acclaimed indies, the Game Awards-nominated Citizen Sleeper is a Tabletop-inspired narrative RPG set on Erlin’s Eye, a ruined space station that is home to thousands of people trying to survive on the edges of an interstellar capitalist society.
You are a sleeper, a digitised human consciousness in an artificial body, owned by a corporation that wants you back. Thrust amongst the unfamiliar and colourful inhabitants of the Eye, you need to build friendships, earn your keep, and navigate the factions of this strange metropolis, if you hope to survive to see the next cycle.

Inspired by Tabletop Roleplaying games, Citizen Sleeper uses Dice, Clocks and Drives to create a player-led experience, where you choose your path in a rich and responsive world. Each cycle you use the dice you are dealt to choose what to do with your time. Make or break alliances, uncover truths and escape your hunters. Survive and ultimately thrive, one cycle at a time, and sometimes against the clock!

The station plays host to characters from all walks of life, trying to eke out an existence among the stars. Salvagers, engineers, hackers, bartenders, street-food vendors, each has a history which brought them here. You choose which of them you wish to help, and together you will shape your future.

Eventually, you will learn to use your dice to hack into the station’s cloud to access decades of digital data, uncover new areas and unlock secrets. This is your unique power, and with it you can change your future. Corporate secrets, rogue AIs and troves of lost data await those willing to dive into the depths of the station’s networks.

Essen-Arp: to them you are just property, one more asset in a portfolio that stretches across the stars. You are the product of an abusive system, in a universe where humanity’s expansion is marked by exploitation and extraction. Escape the makers of your decaying body, and chart your own path in a richly imagined, deeply relevant sci-fi world which explores ideas of precarity, personhood and freedom.

Citizen Sleeper uses Dice, Clocks and Drives to create a player-led experience, where you choose your path in a rich and responsive world.

Each cycle you roll your dice. Assign them to vast range of actions available on the station. With every action, choose what, and who, matters to you, shaping the lives of those around you, and ultimately the future of the station.

Clocks track both your actions and the actions of others across the station. From becoming a local at the Overlook Bar to protecting a friend from Yatagan enforcers, clocks allow you to track your own progress and the influence you have on the world around you.

Follow drives not quests, allowing you to pick and choose the stories and activities that matter to you. As you do, you will shape your character's five skills (Engineer, Interface, Endure, Intuit and Engage), unlocking perks and bonuses that reflect and change how you choose to live in this world.

Citizen Sleeper now includes all three post-launch DLC episodes FLUX, REFUGE and PURGE, which expand the game and introduce additional characters and locations to Erlin’s Eye in an exciting new late game storyline.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,404 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

I really wish I could like this game. The gameplay is simple but well crafted and serves the story well. There is a bit of resource management that’s not too complicated but still leaves the player a bit uncertain about the future. The world building works well in an off itself, it is immersive and has a good amount of flavorful detail. So now let’s come to the bad part: The character writing is one worst that I have ever read. It’s not because who wrote it can’t write well (descriptions are flavorful and the pacing is good) – it’s because all of the characters are the same. Most characters (including the main character) have the following traits: - sad backstory about how they had big dreams or ambitions and tried to succeed and thrive in a world that’s ruled by “the evil corporation” - got screwed by “the evil corporation” who didn’t deliver on their promises and instead used them for their workforce while damaging their reputation, health or restricting their freedom - as a result of that, the character has become very kind towards other stragglers and shares their limited resources freely and willingly - the character is in some kind of dire threat: monetarily, or under pursuit - even though the entire population is allegedly extremely racist towards “sleepers” like the main character, all of these characters are the exception - all conflicts between them are just misconceptions that are easily resolved because everyone is reasonable and nice Of course then there are antagonists. They are comically evil people who are currently benefitting from “the evil corporation”. Each of them is a sleazy opportunist abusing the player characters kindness. The player character is kind. The game doesn’t leave the player any chance to act otherwise. It will tell you in great detail how “you” as the main character feel about the things that are going on, no matter how you as a player are feeling about it. Because it’s written in second person perspective, and it describes the feelings you have in great detail, I felt like the game essentially dictates what my values are and who I’m empathetic with. For this reason, I think second person perspective should only be used when players can make meaningful choices about who they want to be and what they value. And feelings should only be narrated after the player has made a choice that already implies how they feel. One example got me particularly furious. One of the few characters I liked
(because they did not fit the list above) did something very bad and now feel guilty. The only choice you had were: Be disgusted and still take the money they owe you but feel dirty about taking it. And be disgusted and refuse the money.
The person who recommended Citizen Sleeper to me said that they found it to be a powerful moment of player agency. I was furious about not having any other way to relate to one of the very few characters I liked. In conclusion: If you align with the game’s value system, the game may be a great experience. Its popularity suggests that there are more than a few people who like it. In general, I also like to see characters that fight capitalism and try to stay kind in times of hardship. But on the level that it's presented in this game it is wishful thinking at best, delusional at worst.
.没什么想说的
Its not what you might expect, but its engaging, its interesting and not bad for the price especially if you get it on sale. That being said it is heavy in Dialogue so if that is a deal breaker maybe steer clear. I personally like to diversify what I'm playing so I didn't mind it.
I really enjoyed the prose of this game, they can be breathtaking at times. It makes up for the illusion of choice I felt at times.
Decent setting and world-building. But the illusion of meaningful choice quickly evaporates to leave what is essentially a sci-fi visual novel. Compared to 13 Sentinels, another sci-fi game with visual novel elements, this is very poor and lacklustre. On it's own merits it had enough curiosity to pull me through a 9 hour play through but I have no interest in exploring the remaining options or additional content. Okay as a sale pick up for a sci-fi enthusiast but there's not a lot of game in this game.
