The game starts fun and catchy, but becomes incrementally bad the longer you play it. By the endgame, there are multiple issues: - automated tree farming is painfully slow and works only for the one tree type at the same time without any possible updates; - nothing to spend money on. Combined with the previous issue, it feels like the devs didn't finish a big part of the endgame mechanic; - cooking is useless - the minor bonus it provides for a couple of minutes doesn't pay off the effort player invest in farming and fishing; - idk if it is a bug or a feature, but automatic collectors are frequently stop collecting; Next, about the UI, which is really bad: - no search functionality - the main crafting station has 100+ recipes, player has to scroll and manually look for the one he needs; - recipes, needed for the quest, aren't highlighted, so the player has to go back to the quest log and memorize which type of chair out of 10 possible chairs is required; - there are two containers for the quest deliveries - cannon and drone container - UI provides zero hints on which container player should use - every time player has to open quest log to double check;
It was fun for the first 6 or so hours when there was exploration and unlocking new stuff, now it seems like the rest of the game is just a huge boring menu grind. Craft 75x of this, craft X of this and X of that. You just select the craft from a big long menu, that does not seem organized, that you can't sort, that you can't search and then add materials to a bin and let it auto craft. Then you turn it in and go onto the next one. I've got 30+ missions where I need to do this for, its just tedious searching in the menu a bit of gathering and then adding stuff. I feel like I'm fighting the menu looking for the specific craft than anything else.
This game [strike] slaps [/strike] chops! It’s just you and your golden
coin
shower loving chest companion. Finally, an answer to the age-old question ‘How much wood could a woodchuck chuck, if a woodchuck could chuck wood?‘
📝 Main Pros, Cons, and Suggestions, followed by the Review:
🟩 Pros: + Ducks + Basic automation + The loop and charm grows on you + A kawaii drone, Bober the Builder, Yeeet Deliveries + You’ll either love or hate the crude and immature humour + Surely making a computer using 'apple' wood wasn't an accident 🟥 Cons: - Can’t rebind controls - No graphics settings outside of res and vsync - Can’t have multiple pins, nor can you pin all recipes 🏷️ Suggestions: ~ Let me pin more recipes ~ Show me the food buff timer
Destroy meaningless structures, harvest their remains, and pretend it's progress
Chop Chop Inc is a furniture building sim with a slow start, but stick with it, and it may just click. It’s less about taking itself seriously and more cheap humour, but that doesn’t mean it’s not fun. Crafting is the [strike] meat and bones [/strike] wood? of the game, basically, choose an item to craft, then slap together all the pieces, same with building - Chop > Craft > Sell > Missions > Memes > Repeat. Food buffs and stats to level are there but aren’t worth raving about. Similarly, there are a heap of items, biomes, and missions, but it’s all mostly generic - It looks, feels, and plays like this is the devs first game. There’s not much more to say. If you like the look of it, give it a try. It’s not revolutionary, but it’s fun. Worst case, you don’t like it and refund within the two hour refund window. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3779493628
If you enjoyed my review and would like to support me, I would love if you followed BSR for more bite sized reviews.

Follow our curator page: IndieGems if you like and want to see more reviews like this one.
I'm not especially anti-AI, but the incessant ChatGPT "humor" in every dialog drove me nuts.
I was really enjoying the game up until I lost all of my progress by creating a new game to go back and look at something i thought i had missed and wanted to verify. It didn't tell me I would lose my progress or could only have one save. It just deleted it forever. 2 and a half days worth of progress. I had completed all the missions, found all the wooden spies. All I was trying to do was verify where certain rock formations were. All that progress lost because you cant have multiple saves, which i could totally accept IF IT HAD PROVIDED SOME TYPE OF WARNING BEFORE STARTING A NEW GAME. So yeah I'm absolutely leaving a negative review because of that. I have to replay the entire game basically just to find all the stupid rock formations.
An enjoyable and addicting game. A journey filled with humour, crafting, side quests, collectables to find and new biomes to unlock. You start the game off finding yourself in the position of lumberjack after being swiftly evicted from your desk job. You meet a talking loot chest who guides you on how to get started crafting furniture to sell to various clients as you help rebuild the city across the way. You're going to feel like you're Amazon. Taking odd orders and sending them off at first by drone and later by cannon. Yes…a cannon. It is cool to see a bunch of furniture being shot into the air. * What would have been a great addition to the game is when you finish completing orders for each customer type it unlocked a passive buff. You do earn an achievement but an in-game perk would have been nice too. The part of the game with fulfilling orders is a bit grindy but eventually you can automate your furniture making and that takes the tediousness away while you go off exploring, helping others and opening up new biomes as you progress. Each biome brings new resources, new trees to harvest that unlock new furniture possibilities and tool upgrades. Some cons are not being able to rebind your keys and the grind until you get your automated set up going. The house decorating part is very minimal and you cannot freely place furniture and decorations. It is all on a grid and well not the highlight of the game. You can display your collectable ducks however which was neat. There are also lots of guides and community help for anything you run into that you may need some guidance. A fun game with a good amount of enjoyable playtime for the price. 🦆

Thank you to my wonderful friend for such a thoughtful gift!
Please follow our curator page, Otome Lovers, if you'd like to see more reviews like this one! Early game is AMAZING - ok gameplay, great humor and atmosphere, but as you go further into the game it starts feeling more and more rushed and unpolished - by the mid-game cracks really start to show, and once you start automating stuff game turns into an unpolished mess that's painful to play due to lack of quality of life features. I really hope it will get improved so I can come back to the game and change the review, but I can't really recommend it in its current state. The humor and all the aspects of the good game are there, it just needs more polish and maybe some refirement pass on the later game that's currently mostly about fetch quests.
This game reads like somebody wanted to make a furniture building game but then got lost having fun making the rest of a game. This is a funny and great lil time
THIS REVIEW WILL STAY NEGATIVE UNTIL THE AUTOMATED FURNITURE CRAFTER LIST IS SEARCHABLE/SORTABLE. I am spending 20+ mins in late game scrolling up and down a 100+ item furniture catalog.
