Castlevania Anniversary Collection

I got this as part of the [url=https://store.steampowered.com/bundle/40229/Castlevania_Collections_Bundle/]Castlevania Collections Bundle[/url]. I would say the classic Castlevania games featured in this collection are surely worth experiencing, despite how stiff and difficult they can be. My favorites were: - Super Castlevania 4 for the SNES: Better controls than previous iterations, and you can whip upwards - Belmont's Revenge for the GB: Surprisingly good controls and level + hazards design! - Bloodlines for the Genesis: Probably the best controls in the collection? - I skipped Castlevania 2, since I've heard it's a pain in the rear to play without a walkthrough That said, this official compilation by Konami is not good enough for me to recommend, even with the inclusion of Kid Dracula in English and the bonus digital book. My main reason for this is that the Castlevania [url=https://store.steampowered.com/app/1552550/Castlevania_Advance_Collection/]Advance[/url] and [url=https://store.steampowered.com/app/2369900/Castlevania_Dominus_Collection/]Dominus[/url] Collections introduce two great and super-welcome quality-of-life features that would have made an excellent addition to this original collection: 10 save states per game, and the ability to rewind the game. Meanwhile, this collection offers only one single save state per game, and that is it. Yes, it IS better than nothing, and makes all the games WAY more playable and beatable... but with the M2 team having implemented the 10 save sates and rewind for the other collections, I'm sure it would've costed Konami very little to pay for this feature to be added to this collection as a free update... but Konami did not care. If one day Konami updates this collection to add those QoL features, I will recommend this official collection [b]on sale with a 80%+ discount.[/b] Until then, I recommend you just emulate the games in this collection, so you can get perks like having all the save states and rewinds you want. I would also recommend getting a few [url=https://steamcommunity.com/app/1018010/discussions/0/5738190708669013728/]romhacks like these[/url] to make your classic Castlevania games experience better.
