CARRION is a reverse horror game in which you assume the role of an amorphous creature of unknown origins, stalking and consuming those that imprisoned you.

Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 20.57/day in the week to Aug 18 → 31.57/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Nota Geral | Overall Rating
Carrion flips the classic horror formula and puts you in control of the creature itself, and that role reversal is what sustains most of the game's appeal. Controlling a mass of red tentacles that spreads through vents, breaks down doors, and devours scientists is genuinely satisfying in the first few hours. The problem is that this initial satisfaction doesn't hold up the whole way through, the game starts repeating the same room formula with armed enemies and power puzzles without much variation, and the lack of a map turns exploration into an exercise in patience that isn't always rewarding.
Jogabilidade | Gameplay
The creature's movement is the game's biggest technical highlight. Sliding through vents, climbing walls, and hiding behind doors to ambush an unsuspecting enemy has an organic fluidity that few games manage to replicate. The abilities you unlock throughout the campaign, like mind control, invisibility, and biomass projectiles, add real layers of strategy to combat, especially against armed soldiers who require more caution than just barreling in and destroying everything. The problem is that after a few hours, the game has already shown pretty much everything it has, and the following combat rooms start feeling like variations on the same idea.
The campaign itself isn't long, but playtime ends up inflated for a reason that isn't exactly positive: the lack of a map. The corridors and facilities look very similar to each other, and it's pretty common to spend extra minutes just trying to figure out which path hasn't been explored yet. This isn't difficulty in the good sense of the word, it's just wasted time revisiting areas due to a lack of orientation. A map, even a simple one, would have cut a good chunk of that fat without taking any tension away from the game.
Enredo | Story
The story is Carrion's weakest point, by far. There's no dialogue, no explanatory text, everything is told through fragmented flashbacks that show pieces of the creature's origin and the facility where it's trapped. The problem is that these fragments are too vague and too spaced out to really build something cohesive, and the game ends without giving you many answers about what's actually happening. Unlike games like INSIDE, which use silence to build genuine mystery, here the environmental storytelling feels more like a forced fit than an intentional design choice.
Visual
The pixel art visuals are one of the game's biggest strengths. The creature moves and deforms in a visceral, organic way, and the contrast between the monster's vivid red and the dark, industrial environments of the facility creates a very strong visual identity. The execution animations, with the creature literally tearing off limbs and swallowing humans whole, have a surprising level of detail for the chosen art style. It's a game that knows exactly how to use technical limitation in favor of atmosphere.
Audio
The audio does its job without standing out much. The creature's sound effects, the wet, organic sound of tentacles moving, and the panicked screams of humans help reinforce the game's inverted horror atmosphere. The soundtrack, however, is too understated and rarely stands out, functioning more as ambient background than as something that truly marks the tense moments.

Not necessarily a horrible game, but not a good one either. It's also definitely not worth the full price tag. It has an interesting concept where you play the monster, and it has some pretty vicious pixel art, but that's about it. The game is short, sitting at about 5 hours. Thorough those 5 hours you have to do lots of backtracking, especially if you want to grab all the upgrades. The icing of the cake is that there is no in-game map and the maps are convoluted.

Fun game that took around 6 hours to 100% with no replayability. Not worth $20, that's for sure. Get it on sale if you can.
CARRION is a really cool metroidvania-ish game where you play as the villain. It's nice that there are some flashbacks to explain how it all occurred. The game is really fun — it's nice to get new abilities that unlock progress. The puzzles are varied and they don't get repetitive or boring. The main problem is the exploration. The game has no map, and given the metroidvania-like nature of the game — where a new ability allows you to go back to a previous region to access a bonus area — I lost so much time trying to backtrack and getting lost. Also, controlling the character when you're in final form gets really confusing, and it might make you fail missions a couple times because of that. Other than that, great game!
