About
Please note as of October 2024, the online features for this game will no longer be supported.
Call of Juarez is an epic adventure western themed FPS game. The player alternately assumes the roles of two distinct, antagonistic characters: a sneaking fugitive Billy and his hunter the reverend Ray. Apart from the highly interesting, emotional and psychological aspect of the link between the two characters, the player will experience a variety of gameplay with many differences whilst playing a particular character.
The game features fast paced revolver duels using historically accurate firearms, horseback riding, mounted combat and stealth actions in memorable locations set after Western movies. Emergent gameplay based on accurate simulation of not only rigid bodies and rag-dolls but also liquids, gases, fire and smoke makes the gameplay innovative and non-linear.
Very serious approach to the Wild West theme and detailed reconstruction of the character and visuals of that times
The use of physics and innovative simulation of fire, liquids, dust, smokes and gases to construct emergent gameplay
State of the art graphics making use of the top technology graphics cards features on todays cards
Playing 2 distinct characters with different abilities and different gameplay
Horseback riding and saddle shooting, gunfighter duels
Using the whip to fight, move objects and move the player's character
Legendary weapons form the Gold Fever era and full akimbo mode for the hands on approach
Exhilarating storyline with full of twists and turns in this exciting Western Genre.

Even taking into consideration that this game is 20 years old, ridiculously janky, I really don't understand the impulse some game companies have to be like "hey lets add an unnecessary minigame to make this less fun" by which I am referring to the duel and fistfight mechanics which you end most of the missions with. The game is a shooter, use those mechanics if you want to make a boss fight. The controls on PC for the duels are especially awful. Also the game weirdly holds your hand too much, but also does a terrible job when it does. It's impressive how they managed to simultaneously toe both lines so poorly. The actual shooter gameplay was mostly fine, oddly perhaps the most true-to-life shotguns in any game I've played (in that the cartoonish blunderbuss-cone spread of most games is not present here, so the shotguns are not absolutely useless beyond ~15-20 feet). I could say more but I really don't care to.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,402 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

the game mechanics are pretty fun but its way too unfair, like its not intended to progress with 1 life
The dueling system is broken due to game being outdated. But other than that game is decent for 2006.
Buen juego, se le notan los años pero igual sigue siendo divertido

Still as enjoyable as it was on xbox. I managed to beat the game on Hard mode with about 23/40 of the secret wanted posters unlocked at the time of this posting. >cheese the otherwise seemingly *impossible fists fights* by kiting around the arena like a loser.
I wish I could be a patriot and give it a positive review, but it's just not a good game. * It's not pretty even for its time. A very brown and bloom game, either too bright or too dark, never in-between. * Kind of lame level design. A lot of it is just a corridor shooter, more than once you're stuck in a tiny canyon and just move forward. There's one very open level that shows off that the engine can do huge maps, but nothing to do in it. * The shooting isn't fun. You have revolvers, shotguns, rifles, and that's basically 90% of the weapons you'll be using. Low enemy variety is expected in a western, but they're all basically the same thing no matter what weapon they have. A lot of the time brown and bloom gets so bad that you can't see what you're shooting at. Ultimately you biggest enemy is your guns' inaccuracy and you'll cherish the moments when the game gives you the one accurate gun. * Non-shooting also isn't fun. There's half-baked stealth that's nothing special, some busywork story missions, platforming that's just tedious busywork that occasionally gets you killed. Some on-rails chase section too. * Story is okay, nothing special. * If you're going to play it anyway, don't play it on hard. It's just a frustrating exercise in quicksaving and quickloading. If you want to play a fun game from the 2000s, look for something else.
The duels are bugged. I managed to pass the first 2 by luck. But I'm stuck on the third. And for what I've checked on the internet, there is a total of 10 in the game. I give it a try, but this is unbearable anymore. The duel, with a mouse, requires to move the mouse down, then up, in order to draw the weapon and then start shooting. It just doesn't work properly. If you do it reapeatedly even before the reload of the game after a gameover, you can manage to draw your weapon, but you're being prevented of shooting. But after the 4-6seconds ticking are down, I just can't manage to redraw the damn weapon. I dance left and right dodging 12 bullets, while I move my mouse in every velocity and direction imaginable, and I just can't draw the damn weapon... I'm forced to watch the gameover screen over and over again, without knowing how many more times do I have to play until the game accept to draw the weapon. This is unbearable to say the least. The rest of the game is really impressive looking how old this game is. It should be an easy recommend. But these duels are insanely bugged. I literrally have to go through 50 gameovers, before having a random luck to draw my weapon, then I spam the left click button to kill the bad boy in front of me... I did it on the first 2. I don't even know how lucky it worked. But I stopped at the third dude. No way in hell I do this third one and then 7 other dudes till the game is finished.
