Worth it for the moody 1920s Gothic atmosphere alone. Beautiful looking game.

The game was decent. There was definitely some cool moments . Overall I give it a 7.5 out of 10. It starts off as you, detective Pierce being given a case to figure out what really happened with Sarah Hawkins. She supposedly set herself, her husband and child on fire, leading to their deaths. Her father does not believe this story and hires you to uncover the truth of what really happened. The story eventually turns into a Lovecraftian horror as you would expect from the title. Gameplay: There is basically no combat . The main gameplay has you searching around each new area looking for ways through the level. This involves either: Solving puzzles, talking to the correct NPC and choosing from different dialog options, searching the area for key items , sometimes stealth, and various other things. Occasionally you can do a ''reconstruction'', where you reconstruct crime scenes by finding pieces of what happened as they fit together like a puzzle. This gives you a full picture of what went on there. I give them props though. They definitely try to mix up the gameplay by having you do different things, such as running away from an entity while you search for the proper knife to banish it. Or using your lamp to find your way through a dream like parallel level as you are being stalked by the creature. Overall its alright. It didnt blow me away, but it definitely had its moments. This is not for fans of Resident evil or Silent hill, but I would say its right up your ally if you are fans of point and click adventure games, where the whole gameplay is just an adventure of solving puzzles, progressing the story and talking to NPCs.
