Caligo

I would definitely remove the adventure and horror tags from this because it's just a really REALLY slow walking sim (please, a sprint, my liege, if you would be so kind?) through some very pretty atmospheres. There's like, no story to this, you're God and also the first/only man and you just make worlds to putz around in over and over again but none of the "characters" care about what you're doing or why and they're like, "eh just do whatever, it doesn't super matter". And the "cutscenes" are you and another character, unmoving, staring at each other, while dialogue VERY slowly plays. t least let me spin in a circle or have something to actually look at

I unfortunately can't really recommend Caligo, I found it to be a bit of a dread to get through. Like most walking sims your pace is so very slow, luckily there isn't a ton to walk to. Caligo is quite short. However, what makes it feel like it drags on more than the slow pace is the delivery of the dialogue. Asides from the writing not being stellar (there are some interesting thoughts around through), the cadence of how the sentences are spoken is awkward. I often tried to read ahead and skip speaking. The one positive I will give Caligo is that it is very visually interesting, the 3rd area in the game is very cozy and vibrant and the 2nd to last is very interesting to look at. Sometimes I felt like I was just a 3D camera observing someone's cool modeling assignment.

Although the voice acting wasn't great, and it was a little unpolished, Caligo does have its own unique charm. There were some beautiful environments to walk though, and I took more than a few screenshots of interesting scenery. The story could have had a little more punch, but it was an inexpensive gave that I wrapped in an hour, so I will give it points for being concise in the storytelling.

Surrealer Walking Simulator, mit verbesserungswürdigem Voice Acting. Die Untertitel sind leider nur Englisch oder Russisch. Ich habe nur so halb verstanden, worum es geht. Schöne Umgebungen und schöner Soundtrack. Dieses Spiel war auf meinem alten PC, obwohl er die Hardware-Anforderungen erfüllt, kaum spielbar, hab's damals abgebrochen. Im April 2025 kam unerwartet 7 Jahre nach dem Release ein umfassendes Optimierungs-Update und jetzt läuft es flüssig.
