Caffeine is a quirky first person adventure game with environmental puzzles and a dab of psychological horror. You awaken aboard one of these caffeine mining stations alone. Before long you realize that you are a young boy with no memory of what has transpired on this seemingly empty space station.

Pretty short adventure game with walking simulator style gameplay. It's a bit buggy at times, but at least it's easy to get all 11 achievements to get one more perfect game. It was supposed to get a sequel, but the devs cancelled it. Story-wise it's nothing special, some light horror elements since you're located on abandoned space station which is flooded by coffe, and puzzle elements of the game are really simple. Would I play again? No... but since I got the game in a bundle and let me get all achievements it was good for one playthrough.
Tags: Adventure - WS - Walking Sim Additional Tags: Delete Local Content & Remove from Library TLDR: A hollow experience with little to no gameplay, a lazy and very superficial narrative delivery, an unsatisfying control scheme, and a motion sickness inducing visual display, overuse of reflection effects, overuse of dark areas. Review: Caffeine is basically just a bunch of empty corridors and empty rooms, there are a few light switches here and there. The only information you can get are two dozen post-it notes scattered around the level, most of them meaningless. Occasionally a room will have a keycard or a canister that you can interact with, and if you read the post-it notes and the few lines on the computer terminals, it would be possible to run about in circles for a long long time and unlock the few achievements scattered about. Walk speed is very slow, exploration is unrewarding with a bunch of corridors and room that look all mostly the same. No other characters or plot going about. Mostly nonsense about not drinking coffee, buying more coffee, and a few sci fi mumbo jumbo lines about replacing inverters or needing keycards. There are a few instances of semi-cryptic post it notes like someone tried to make it so the post it notes acts as if there was some mental health issue or some kind of terror lurking about, the music tries to sound menacing at times and some sound effects can pop in like voices. But on the overall it falls flat and does not convey the desired efffect. This is still in early access two years after release and I am not impressed with what I saw. Even though I technically have access to any and all future episodes it seems very doubtful that any will be made, and if they are on the quality of this offering I would rather not bother anyways.
