For such a short game, I was surprised how much was packed in. At first it seemed a little confusing but the more you play, the more it all comes together and I really enjoyed how the story was done. A very entertaining psych horror that will keep you hooked from start to finish. I strongly recommend you play this game. Step into the disturbing atmosphere of Mouthwashing, you won't regret it. For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
𝚃𝚊𝚔𝚎 𝚁𝚎𝚜𝚙𝚘𝚗𝚜𝚒𝚋𝚒𝚕𝚒𝚝𝚢
This game is one of the most complex and very well written psychological horror game I have ever played. My friends had bought me this game to play since I haven't played it at all (+ it was on sale). I was a bit frightened at first because I'm not the best at horror games but of course I try and had streamed the entire game for them. This whole experience of the game made me really love it with their amazing foreshadowing and symbolizations that they've shown throughout the entire game. The twists and turns that I noticed were super crafted well too. What I really love about games is how well they make their environment change for the player to try to notice. Yes there will be !!spoilers!! ahead so I advise you to stay away if you don't want spoilers! Here are the things I have noticed throughout my gameplay:
N/A: Yes I do know that lots of people have pointed out these stuff but I would like to add how I see it!
❀ The positions during Curly's birthday scene. I saw it the moment when Curly had sat down at the table with his cake. Jimmy is sat in the very front, kind of a overlooking position. Usually in any type of like game, real life, or tv show/movie, the person that usually sits there is seen as the leader of the group. Curly (who was still captain at the time) still decided to sit next to Daisuke anyways. ❀ The board game in the lounge room. During scenes and tasks, I would casually check the board, noticing that each time I visited it, most of the pawns would move and the colors seemed to replicate everybody in the crew. Anya (blue), Swansea (yellow), Jimmy (green), and Daisuke (pink). A few of them get knocked down near the end (kind of the entire point of the game) but green still stands above them all. There's probably more that I hadn't seen in the game unfortunately because I was scared to look around more but yeah. ❀ Polle symbolisms for Anya. Unfortunately the joke about how he was sexually attracted to cartoon horses does add onto this. About how Jimmy seems like he cant really see Anya as a human and treats her like ♥♥♥♥. This is supposed to represent Jimmy’s abuse of Anya. During the ultrasound scene, it shows two baby horses. I possibly think it's an indication that Anya may have been pregnant with twins. “Our worst moments don’t make us monsters." Anya's saying which had affected him throughout the game. When Jimmy mentions the same lines to Polle (which Jimmy tries to believe that saying but can't because he can't "take responsibility"), Polle cuts him off and And says, “Hold on! Wait a minute. If that’s true...why are still so concerned with him?” ❀ Curly and Anya. During the entirety of the game, Anya is tasked with taking care of Curly. (Like how someone would take care of a baby). And during that time (and later if replayed the game) we know Anya is pregnant. And her deflecting and asking if Jimmy could take care of Curly (with the pills) could be a sign or a push to remind him that he need to take responsibility for his (unborn) children which he began to refuse somewhat during the middle of the gameplay. ❀ Mouthwash I feel like the mouthwash highly represented escapism. Possibly corporate greed too. The mouthwash contains high levels of alcohol, and the entire crew eventually drinks it to get drunk. Obviously a desire of wanting to numb themselves and escape their inevitable death(s). During the Dragonbreath Mouthwash ad, below the texts of "ALL DAY FIRE FRESH" it says that the entire company takes ZERO responsibility for anything that happens to anyone who uses the mouthwash. This could possibly symbolize the fact that the company, Jimmy, is refusing to take any sort of RESPONSIBILITY for their actions and what they have caused. Thank you for reading my review! I will most likely update it when I think of any other stuff I had thought of. Although these are just theories/symbolisms that I thought were there for certain reasons! 10/10 would definitely play it again!
While keeping it relatively short and simple - BEWARE of potential SPOILERS! For those of us who intimately understand the daily struggle with mental health, Jimmy’s journey strikes a particularly profound chord. Living with a mind that feels like an active war zone gives you a baseline empathy for suffering—you know what it’s like to feel trapped, hopeless, or completely detached from yourself. Yet, Mouthwashing draws a brilliant, terrifying line between simply struggling and completely giving in to the darkness. Even on our absolute worst days, when the weight of our own minds feels completely unbearable, Jimmy’s choices stand as a stark reminder of a boundary we would never cross. He chooses to drag others down into his personal hell, letting his cowardice and fractures dictate the survival of everyone else. I cannot recommend this game enough. Give it a go. You won't regret it.
Mouthwashing isn't a bad game, but it implies much more than it delivers. For all its intent to drive home a point and inflict something on the player, whether through an abundance of symbolism, fourth-wall breaks, or flashing text (one of many things borrowed from other works in media), I felt and took away curiously little. While there is disturbing imagery, it's used in a fairly surface-level way. Its three-hour runtime feels conveniently padded past the Steam refund window with walking simulator gameplay that has nothing to say, and inexplicable mascot horror segments that felt obligatory and tacked on, especially toward the end. The characters are interesting and surprisingly human, doing the best job of showing the story instead of telling it. The game's writing and art lends itself well to narrative analysis, with themes that reward more thought after the story is over. Indeed, thinking about the game outside itself makes it more weird and unsettling, and it drives a lot of discussion. But, I can't help but feel underwhelmed at the hype for Mouthwashing. It had some excellent cinematic moments, but was borderline pretentious in an effort to be avant-garde. It insists upon itself, Lois. It insists upon itself.
Добро пожаловать на мой обзор по игре Mouthwashing

Pretty decent space horror game though I wouldn't call it amazing. I do gotta say that the game is a little weak on context clues that are important to the story, especially in relation to
what happened to Anya
. Also worth noting that my experience with the "scary" stuff was more annoyance. It's a fine game and worth playing for its atmosphere and story but remember that horror fans have low standards and the people glazing this game are overhyping it a little.
Reviews painted it as a masterpiece of a game, but in reality it’s a primitive walking simulator with a “deep story” - a completely linear short game (about three hours). After two hours of wandering around a small ship without my actions having any influence on what was happening, I decided to request a refund and watch the last hour of a playthrough to see what the ending was. The main twist turned out to be predictable, and overall I didn’t like the story. The psychological horror here is basically cobbled together from cliches and psychedelic imagery that don’t impress, and some moments are just irritating. In the end, we’re left with a simple story in the form of an overrated walking sim.
A fascinating story from start to finish. Loved it. Spoilers below
The boring, usual narrative would've just been to condemn Jimmy, to make him the villain. But this game does that, and goes a step further that most don't. It condemns Jimmy, yes, but it also condemns Curly and his inaction. It is not shy with the fact that Curly is just as culpable for Jimmy's actions because Curly could have stopped this. Curly could have protected Anya. He chose not to. It's a powerful condemnation that choosing not to act, is in itself an action and a decision.
Cool. Maybe a bit overhyped? But cool nonetheless. The characters are likeable, the atmosphere matches the setting and the plot twist is interesting. Some sections are boring, but they contribute to the game's general tone. I'm not here to judge how much other people's work should cost, especially when it's something more aesthetically/art heavy or an indie/passion project, but maaybe get it on a sale. Good game.
