Brigand: Oaxaca is a highly difficult post-apocalyptic RPG/FPS set in Mexico. Emphasis is on challenge, a branching story with multiple endings, and total freedom of action (kill friendly characters, rob stores, jump across roofs, etc.).

Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0/day in the week to Aug 29 → 0.14/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Modding Permissions:
You can sell your own mods for Brigand on any site you want and keep all the profit, as long as you include a link to the Brigand store page and do not include the EXE files in your download. Itch.io is a good place to sell mods. Let me know if you make one (you don't have to).
Linux/Deck Compatibility:
To run on most Linux systems, enable the Steam Proton 8.0-5 in the "compatibility" tab.
Everything loads much faster on Steam Deck if you launch in "Desktop Mode".

Really sick
It's very charming but very rough around the edges. I love the music and general atmosphere the game has. The writing is pretty decent and the story was interesting enough to keep me going. There's lots of ways to solve problems and it pays to stop and think up new tactics when dealing with enemies. It's a great thing that once enemies are dead, they're dead for good instead of respawning. It really adds to the sense of accomplishment when you take down a horde of demons or some tough hostiles - just don't forget to run back to a bed and save your progress! I'm a big fan of roleplaying and the RPG elements are implemented well from what I can tell from my time playing. I enjoyed myself quite a bit. Now for my problems with it which bother me enough to ruin the experience. It's just very unfair sometimes. Lots of enemies are super fast and they'll jump out at you from nowhere before you have any hope of reacting. There's a lot of trial-and-error in every part of the game I've seen so far. You'll rarely be able to think on your feet in the heat of battle. You'll notice something you can exploit with the terrain or remember a few grenades you had lying around and do better next time with the newfound knowledge you gained on your last doomed run. I'm not sure I'll ever beat this completely, the difficulty gets to be a bit much for me and it makes me angry and stressed. And yet, I still really liked my time with Brigand Oaxaca and I think I'll play more of it in the future. It's unlike anything I've ever played. If you have a tolerance for unpolished games that are very hard, give it a shot. It's definitely got good times to offer if you've got the taste for it.

Update/TL;DR - Game is megafun, if any part of what this is appeals to you go for it. Some users/some PC's may experience issues, some won't, Dev also has fixes and suggestions is very active and updates the game a lot, and is willing to help. Give it a shot cuz it's fun! - This game barely ran for me. In fact, I upgraded my gaming PC at some point and went to try this game again and it performed even worse. There seems to be some issue where some computers just won't run it without stuttering even if they are way beyond the requirements. Despite all this I powered through about an hour of the game, long enough to know that despite the technical issues I was going to enjoy and want to play this. I finally give it a shot on my Steam Deck and even THEN I has to turn off the full UI and swap to Minimal UI because the UI itself was halving the framerate from 33 (the native FPS) to about 16 or 17. And then I had to tweak the default deck controls, which were most of the way there but I added in Motion Aiming (real nice) and some other button inputs which were curiously missing, I'll publish my Deck controller layout for other deck users. And after ALL OF THAT, yes, the game is fun. If you made it this far and aren't turned off by the Jank this game is possibly for you. For whatever flaws or issues this dev might be having with some of the technical issues and the engine itself, the game design decisions are fantastic and there's really not another immersive sim that really quite compares to this. I see influences from Deus Ex and Gothic style games but it also somehow is entirely its own thing at the same time, which is refreshing. I also thought I would absolutely hate the strict ten item inventory but between the persistent world that means items you drop remain (so you can stash stuff around), being able to easily get back around the map as long as you aren't in a specific story-beat that locks you on a path, and having your companions mule a few things around, as well as the whole game being designed from the ground up to acknowledge this ten item limit, I actually really like it for influencing how I approach the game and breaking the hoard everything tendency I have in most other imsims and RPGs. I hope the dev goes hard on Oaxaca 2 and maybe builds that up on a more stable engine, the sort of thing that has become more available to indie devs since 2017 when this was originally released (for the love of god, not UE5). Despite the good within, I am afraid a lot of people just won't be able to get past some of the technical issues but at least there is a Demo and Steam has a generous refund policy so if anything about this game looks interesting to you, you should give it a shot and see if it runs fine for you out of the box.
