Borderlands Game of the Year Enhanced

Replaying this once again after 2009, this game still stands on its own as one of the most fun shooters I have ever played. Also, this was my first entry into the RPG genre and I really found all the character skill customisations, weapon stat features, mods and other stuff really interesting to play around with. Granted, its not a full blown rpg in terms of branching story and your decisions affecting gameplay but its still fun. The cell shaded graphics were unique for its time and I still find it quite appealing visually. While the sequel Borderlands 2 improves upon many aspects of the original in terms of gameplay and storytelling, the original has a charm which will never be forgotten. Also, I would recommend this GOTY edition if you want to experience this game for the first time because it has taken some UI interface elements from Borderlands 2 which is pretty neat. The story is not something to write home about but the dialogues and trash talking really sells it for me, although once again, the sequel has one of the best stories in the Borderlands game ever. Its also a long game if you are into doing all the side missions and explore Pandora for hidden weapon chests and better gear. It has the standard system of leveling up to equip better weapons and gear like most RPG's do so people who have played a lot of these games will definitely feel right at home with this one. Performance wise, I saw on the forums that the game is having technical issues running on modern hardware and its also refusing to start and instantly crashes. I thankfully, never faced any of these issues except once where the sound absolutely disappeared from the game and I had to force restart for it to work. I played with a Keyboard and Mouse because I heard that people with controllers were having troubles too. If it works good for you though, I am pretty sure you'll love what this game has to offer and if you are a new player in the Borderlands franchise, instead of playing the latest one, you may want to start with this one because you won't be disappointed. I give it 8 Bouncing Betties out of 10.
