Border Pioneer

Could have been good, but it is way too reliant on RNG even for a roguelike. On hard and higher difficulty, food upkeep cost is raised by an absolutely massive 50%, which is even worse than it sounds because that includes the upkeep for food-producing buildings and the population you need to work them. You either get an orchard through the luck of the draw or you lose because you can't build anything after a couple of turns.

6.5/10 Game just gets too easy once you get the hang of it and the achievements should be level based and not character based, if I want to complete all the achievements I can just spam the first levels on pioneer difficulty and its easy..

只谈存在的问题，游戏保存存在很大的问题，玩的难受，简直浪费我的时间。先说自动保存，一般玩家通关某个关卡后，想退出。再进的时候进入自动保存存档，不管输赢，就必须重复上一次关卡的最后一回合。再说手动存档，吃了自动保存的亏后，我使用手动保存一段时间后，自动保存就失效了，意味着如果某次你忘记了手动保存，不好意思，必须重复上一次的内容。最最讨厌的是，手动存档有时候你保存了也会失效。

kinda fun

This game is pretty fun. It has a fair amount of jank and could be considered incomplete or version 0.90. in theory i get mad when games have card elements and deck building. Here it didn't even register until the game was already marked in my brain as a thumbs up. Normal is way to easy and the only way to really play to have any challenge is on Pioneer. There are enough funny looking character and different characters to choose to spend 10 plus hours playing and not even realize it like i did. This game snuck into my library in a bundle i'm sure so I never picked it out with real expectations. Based on the low expectations rating scale 7.25/10 is my personal feelings so far.

Border Pioneer hits that rare sweet spot: it lets you puzzle out a game without making you sweat. It is incredibly easy to pick up, thanks to the tutorial, AI, and well-planned game loop but has enough depth to keep you encouraged to master it. The balance and RNG feel reasonably fair, which I only see in the best of games. It is satisfying for quick, short runs or a longer session. Game has an accessible map editor too, though I'd play a few games first. Just be warned: one minute you're casually placing cozy houses, and the next minute 800 skeletons show up out of nowhere to turn your village into a graveyard. 8/10
