Bookbinding – Dark Cozy Sim

Pretty art, has a lot of potential. I enjoyed it but I don't really think 'wholesome' is a very accurate descriptor. Game mechanic wise, I wish you could change the opacity of the patterns, and I wish it was compatible with drawing tablets so I could actually draw on the books. I played through several times and I liked the other characters of the story. I really liked the card reading aspect, I wish it came into play more often and had stronger effects on the story. I think the main character was my least favorite. Spoilers for the endings: [spoiler] It felt like the endings of the story didn't really have a lot of character sway. Most of the choices you made didn't really effect the outcome, and the Otto ending being one of the main endings despite your choices is really odd. It felt like trying to tell you it was a happy ending because you no longer get beaten. Kind of disappointing that (as far as I found), you don't get to do a reading on Otto. The blind beggar just negating the reading the character does of themselves just kind of falls flat. Yes, that comes from a character choice of not harming Jenna, but still just makes the readings feel kind of pointless. I was hoping that the consequences would land somewhere else. On the route I was romancing Agate and escaping, hearing that someone robbed and threatened her with a knife, I was wondering if the "judgement" card was going to land on Nate, and that's where the "fate" would go. It seemed so specific that I figured the guards would blame Nate for that. [/spoiler] I wish that the game was able to take the story further. I think the characters are interesting and if the stakes were higher it could feel a lot more fulfilling.
