Book of Demons is a Hack & Slash in which YOU decide the length of quests. Wield magic cards instead of weapons and slay the armies of darkness in the dungeons below the Old Cathedral. Save the terror-stricken Paperverse from the clutches of the Archdemon himself!

Reviews
The art style is really impressive and distinct, but I would describe the gameplay as "just fine". Even on the hardest difficulty, passive items are so incredibly strong compared to skill cards or active items that you'll basically only focus on using equip slots + upgrading passive cards, which makes the game far less dynamic and just turns it into a mouse-hand only game. The active abilities or items that _are_ good always involve health regeneration. Grinding for cards to help upgrade those passive items becomes a major component only just a few hours in. Randomized dungeon layouts can vary from being either same-y and vanilla compared to other dungeon layouts the game has generated for you, or it can fall down to incredibly tedious and obnoxious maze-like paths, but never are they actually interesting. That, plus the slow movement and often-required backtracking to 100% a level, gives an extremely tedious feel to every play session.

14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 15: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

You've played this before, and yet never quite like this. The presentation and mechanics are a lot of fun, but I do have a couple of issues. First off, you cannot revisit areas to try to find new cards or grind for gold/XP. Generally, this is fine for most of the game, but in the late game, enemies constantly heal or spawn new enemies, meaning if you don't finish an encounter quickly, you can get overwhelmed and potentially run out of resources. The other issue is how much stuff can be going on at once in the late game, especially during boss fights. A lot of times I lost track of the cursor, which can be fatal because so many mechanics are dependent on getting the cursor to the right place. Thankfully, there is Casual mode and Superhot mode to help if you get too stuck, though I never needed to use them. Overall this is a pretty solid recommendation for ARPG fans, especially of the original Diablo.
Only 19hrs in right now, but this is a fun game! Love the mechanics, LOVE the style, love the easter eggs. Only 2 criticisms: 1. The start of the game is just a tad harder than I would expect for "Normal" mode, before you get the chance to find some slightly decent gear/spells (but trust me guys, it gets a little better balanced quickly enough). 2. While I love the voice acting, the player characters' random "enter the dungeon" and "defeated an elite" lines are a little too repetitive. I keep hearing the same lines over and over again. I'd make them less frequent or put A LOT more lines in (or both!). That said, these are really small issues, as a whole this game is fantastic, and I can see myself playing this for a very long time! ... That is, until the other games come out! And I want to take a second to talk about the brilliantness that is the podiums of books at the start of the game, basically announcing "Yeah, That's Right! This maybe our first pop up book game, but we plan to make 6 more!". Way to make me invested and excited for a series of games! Love it! And I can't wait to see them all!
I just finished the Cook's Quest with the Warrior. With a bit of luck - Several good cards helped - I managed with only one death. Fun, and i'm sure this game has a lot more to develop. I'm excited to see what other stories the developers can pull us into. Very strong Diablo 1 vibes, the game manages to make a loot / weapon / powers system that feels unique, dynamic, and has an excellent flow. Still, I think the developers have some hard work ahead of themselves because the game has some punishing aspects that go beyond the problem-solving that they ask of you. The Rogue is awkward in that, though she's a ranged class and can pick off enemies from afar, the layout of the game will PUNISH you with some of the dungeon's mechanics. As opposed to Diablo's open dungeon where the rogue can manage crowds at distance and retreat to maintain her range, this game has natural terrain that monsters can hide behind. Clever & sensible, this adds some planning to the rogue's actions. However, once you get to uniques in doored off areas, monsters can & will crowd the edge of a door/hallway and will rip apart the rogue if she wants to progress. This is...very frustrating. There's no way a rogue can circumvent this mechanic, so if you get a unique at the edge of an passageway? Best just to abandon your run. How can this change? I wonder if the rogue could *alter* the doors of a space to *grant* herself and monsters the ability to pass through? This would both allow her to retreat and defeat enemies without necessarily changing their difficulty, and making her need to attack a range mush less of an issue. Still recommend this game, and I think it will be good for many more hours' worth of fun.
A great dungeon crawler with really nice streamlined gameplay, art style and music is good to. extremely reminiscent of Diablo without feeling like plagiarism. This game has two main unique mechanics, its card system and its quest system. Its card system function as equipment but more streamlined with no specific body slot or equipment space requirements. You are just limited by how many cards you can equip and their mana cost. The quest system lets you adjust the length of your quests. Do you want a game to go for 9 minutes or 60? And everything in between. This lets you play dungeon levels to your preference rather than forcing the player into dungeon lengths that you my not want.
i am reviewing this after the first big boss 1/3 of the way down towards mega final boss at the bottom,on very easy,i am having good old d and d flavored ,i choose to play the mage, the option comes really early so your not to invested into the intro class option i paid 5 $ for it,not worth full price but 5$ was a total steal lol.it doesnt complicate things with the cards you get,the good choices are obvious.it is totaly like the old diablo 2,except you dont have 360 freedom movement.
It's a super fun, casual ARPG Hack 'n' Slash experience. I really like that you're able to portion out play sessions witht he flexiscope feature.
I HATE it!
