Bombun

Decent little platformer, despite the dev's reputation as an artist. The controls are rock solid, the level design is fun, and double jumping using the bombs feels nice. Only thing I don't really like is the story. All we're told is the hero and the villain used to be friends, and that the hero's fortress is under attack. We don't see why they're not friends anymore, we don't get any closure after the final battle is over. Even Mario games have a beginning and an end, and those games aren't known for story at all. All we see at the end is [spoiler]Bombun looking too happy about falling to her own death.[/spoiler] The gameplay is good, but I just wish literally ANYTHING was contextualized and explained to the player. I don't need the story to be deep or complex but I would like it to kinda EXIST ya know? But my gripes with how the story is told aside, the actual gameplay part is fun. I think THIS is Kekitopu's true calling. Though my only complaint with the gameplay is the powerups all feel a tad similar to each other. If there was a Bombun 2, I think some more powerups that feel more unique from each other would be great.
