So, I bought this game to play with a friend of mine. We both live in the same place and have seperate vives, so we were looking for multiplayer. We stumbled upon this in our search, which happened to only need one. We decided to give it a shot. We didn't do any tutorials, admittedly, and jumped right into multiplayer. It took us a bit to figure out, but I'd say this game is worth the price for the local multi alone. I scared the ♥♥♥♥ out of him and regret nothing.

I can’t fault it for this as VR really works well for the genre compared to some others. In Blue Effect VR you are placed in dark rooms and very few lighting options and shoot hordes of robotic/creatures of horror hybrids that remind me a bit of aliens also. This is NOT a game for someone with Nyctophobia as you will NOT be able to see much or far. By the time you can see something, you’ll likely be dead or taking some damage. You are given a ball in which you can throw with one hand on some levels that lights up around it. I honestly didn’t understand the point of the ball besides the lighting. The tutorial really didn’t say much useful information that I couldn’t have figured out myself and left the things I didn’t understand unexplained. Like – does the ball hurt enemies? If I shoot the ball and it makes an explosion, does it hurt enemies? Can I punch enemies? I had no idea. By a certain point, I just focused upon the level that had 2 guns and using the “night vision” vials. Once you run out the vials, it becomes good night as I wish you good luck seeing anything. The goods of the game to me was the audio/visuals. The lighting looked great and the night vision was cool once I figured out what the vials did. The sounds of the creatures were actually very well done and quite intimidating, especially when your lights were off. The monsters looked pretty well done when you could see them. There doesn’t seem to be much else to the game at the moment. There is not much customization compared to other wave shooters and , as I said earlier, I don’t understand the point of the ball and due to the lack of tutorial, I felt I shouldn’t bother caring. I had some problems with the tracking for this game but I will not count that against it as it may have been something on my end. Overall, Blue Effect VR is $14.99. For this price, I can’t recommend it. There are such better wave shooters, in my opinion, that are around that price or less. It might be worth the grab if you get some usage out of the multiplayer modes but for single player, I felt I saw most of what was offered in a short amount of time. A big step to improving the game would have been a better explanation of “the ball” or adding other options to actually SEE the enemies but I guess that’s the point of the game.

A wave shooter that hasn't received updates in a while. If you are looking for a wave shooter with more horror-type elements, you might actually like this game. Otherwise, it's hard to justify.
Pretty decent stand in one spot and shoot type of VR game. But those games are all boring now anyway.
+Cool Light System +Spooky Ambiance +Multiplayer -Boring overused Wave Shooter -Gun seems weak -Not worth price at all. 2/5 It's only real redeeming quality is it has multiplayer, however I doubt many other people have this and I highly recommend giving this a pass. The gun has no real feel to it, as if your gun has the force of someone throwing an empty plastic bag against light wind. It's not scary, it feels horribly unfinished, overall I'd stay clear of this. Quite glad I decided to give the asymmetric multiplayer a go this month. :D Only ever tried the solo mode before and wasn't really all that impressed, but introduce a friend into the mix to play with a controller against you and it becomes a very different thing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RTgMDgOnAoI All around, the multiplayer was a lot of fun. But the game DOES still suffer from problems common with a lot of VR games right now. It still feels more like a concept than a full game. There is a lot this game does right. The lighting, the audio, the gameplay mechanics. All of them are a great start. But it still feels like an unfinished concept. A limited map variety, a lack of different enemy types and no real interaction beyond "shoot the bad robots" leaves me wishin the game could have more. Because it so deserves it. The way the lighting casts shadows across the maps, the tense listening for where the enemies are when they're moving, the atmosphere it creates is wonderful and with some more content and more variety, it would be an instant classic. It's just let down by this feeling of it being a proof-of concept rather than a game. And sadly, I just don't think it's going to get it. In the past 8 months, it's had a single update and that update gave you the option of replacing your usual blue light with an orange pumpkin. That's it. To the devs, I urge you to carry on and expand on this concept. There aren't enough games out there like it, especially with asymmetric local co-op. With some more love and variety, this could be something truly special. As it stands, I find it hard to truly reccomend at the price tag it stands at.
never ending shoot repeat over and over leval never changes
-Add Online Multiplayer (for Friends)- this game is amazing, its action packed and it feels like a horror through suspension, i enjoyed playing solo and playing the LAN one with a friend with on on PC and on in VR. -what can be done to improve this gem?- People will not enjoy it if they are alone at home with their vr and just keep doin the waves, they can become tedious. HOWEVER The lan multiplayer is AWESOME and i dont get tired of. SO WHAT CAN BE DONE TO IMPROVE? making the "friendly" 1v1 become online with friends, make it so we dont have to be in the same house, my friend who has this game is in another country and i would like to play agaisnt him while we record it. Making the monster player able to play in vr? make some new monsters where even they can be in VR, climb walls and even the ceiling like true monsters to add a even more fear factor. )-=-to sum it up i would rate 5 STARS when you make it online so i can play with friends-=-(
A wave shooter with limited content.
Full disclosure. I did not play this allot because it freaks me the hell out. I decided to play this when I have visitors with me or if my family as staying a few days over. Playing this game alone would probably cause to rip off the headset in shock and fear, breaking it in the process. But it does provide what it said it would so no complaints there. That is why I kept it and not refund it. I recommend it, if you dare.
