exploration aspect is neat

an imsim with a super mario 64 hub. incredible. explore levels for upgrades, weapons, and stars, pushing you to search each nook and cranny and get very creative with how you traverse. tons of atmosphere, guns feel good and weapons are distinct with unique purposes. I love the sniper rifle with its heat seeking scope that both makes it easier and more difficult to take on targets (and is ineffective on a certain enemy that is not warm). can certainly prevent some surprises tho. the death system is forgiving while still making you feel like you need to stay sharp; you reset back to base ammo and the weapons you first started the level with, along with all enemies and obstacles reset, and there's no quick saving so you'll have to roll with the punches more than you would otherwise. definitely feels like Cruelty Squad, but the addition of a proper hub adds a lot. the fact though that the mission areas are, in addition to being accessible through the hub, all interlinked is really cool! in all, very good time if you like games anything like this. excited to see how it evolves. anyone manage to find a consistent way to deal with hornets? for reference in this time I completed the available levels, all the zone tokens, 3/15 stars in the hub, angels landing I didn't find the angel key, didn't grab the star that's behind a locked door on the main level, and never found out how to get the gun behind the bars in the bottom area. pont des vents I'm missing 2 stars, one on top of the building by the parking lot (did manage to get up to the one at the top of the building next to it, without even using the hospital exit to get there, traffic pylons, finicky as they are, are your most consistent bet for prop stacking ime), and the other I haven't found at all. rest of the levels I found all the stars.

Not everything is bound by default but this game has some solid controller support especially for where it is. That's not formally advertised on the page. Fun mix of boomer shooter and mario 64 type worlds, has a much more distinct style and sound design to it than I expected from the trailer.

Game is a gem. A Cruelty Squad-like that is far more focused on exploration is such a fun idea. Music is awesome. All the levels are fun and interesting and there's even interconnectivity between them. I need more ASAP.
