Prices
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 1.43/day in the week to Aug 14 → 2.14/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,419 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Aug 22: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

Black Book is a compelling blend of dark folklore, card-based combat, and narrative-driven RPG mechanics that immerses players in the haunting world of Slavic mythology. Developed by Morteshka, this atmospheric adventure is set in 19th-century rural Russia and follows a young sorceress named Vasilisa, who turns to witchcraft in a desperate attempt to resurrect her deceased fiancé. The game’s unique premise, rich cultural setting, and engaging mechanics distinguish it from more conventional fantasy titles, offering a deeply immersive experience that weaves myth, morality, and magic into a memorable journey. From the very beginning, Black Book sets itself apart with its unique tone and setting. Rather than drawing from familiar Western fantasy tropes, the game grounds its story in authentic Slavic folklore, complete with spirits, demons, and traditional superstitions. The result is a world that feels distinct and alive, filled with creatures and customs that are as fascinating as they are eerie. Vasilisa’s journey through the countryside introduces players to a cast of characters that includes peasants, wandering souls, other sorcerers, and a host of mythical beings, each with their own roles and rules rooted in folk traditions. The lore is delivered thoughtfully, often through dialogue, optional conversations, and the game’s in-depth encyclopedia, which helps to make the world feel lived-in without overwhelming newcomers. The core gameplay revolves around a deck-building combat system that cleverly ties into the game’s narrative and thematic elements. As a witch, Vasilisa casts spells using a literal "black book" filled with pages representing various incantations. Battles play out in turn-based fashion, where players construct sequences of cards—each with specific effects—to damage enemies, protect themselves, or manipulate conditions. The system is surprisingly deep and tactical, with synergy between cards, passive traits, and status effects playing a critical role in mastering combat. What’s particularly impressive is how the spellcasting feels like an extension of the story; every fight is rooted in the protagonist’s role as a knower—someone who helps the common folk by solving supernatural problems, often through rituals or banishment of evil spirits. Beyond combat, Black Book features a robust narrative structure where player choice genuinely matters. Vasilisa is regularly presented with moral dilemmas and branching dialogue paths that influence the story and character relationships. Decisions often revolve around how to handle the suffering of others, whether to follow the darker paths of witchcraft, and how much personal sacrifice is worth the power she seeks. These moments are supported by strong writing and excellent pacing, giving players a sense of weight and consequence to their actions. Moreover, side quests, known as "requests," add flavor to the world and provide opportunities for both lore expansion and moral exploration, often requiring players to solve puzzles or uncover truths based on subtle clues and folk knowledge. Visually, Black Book uses a stylized, storybook-like aesthetic that suits its folkloric roots perfectly. The environments are moody and detailed, often bathed in mist or darkness, capturing the cold, rural atmosphere of 19th-century Russia. Character designs are distinct and expressive, with a hand-drawn quality that enhances the game’s fairy tale-like presentation. The animations are simple but effective, and the use of color and light is excellent in conveying tone—especially during encounters with the supernatural. Sound design also plays a critical role, with an eerie, ambient soundtrack that underscores the game’s darker moments and traditional Russian folk music that adds authenticity and emotional depth. One of Black Book’s greatest strengths is how it intertwines education with entertainment. While deeply rooted in myth, the game takes great care to explain the cultural significance behind its creatures and rituals. The in-game glossary is not just a gameplay aid—it’s a gateway to understanding a cultural tradition that is rarely explored in mainstream media. For players interested in folklore and anthropology, this level of authenticity and respect for source material is a rare treat. However, the game is not without its flaws. The combat, while engaging, can become repetitive over long play sessions, especially if the player doesn’t vary their deck or approach. Some quest outcomes can feel abrupt or lack payoff, particularly if a player’s choice leads to a quick resolution without deeper consequence. Additionally, the learning curve for the card system and the lore-heavy storytelling may initially be daunting for those unfamiliar with the genre or the cultural background. Despite these minor drawbacks, Black Book is an impressive and original experience that succeeds in combining narrative, strategy, and cultural exploration into a cohesive whole. It respects the intelligence of its players by offering complex themes, morally ambiguous decisions, and a rich mythological tapestry that never feels tacked on or superficial. For players seeking something different—something both haunting and thought-provoking—Black Book offers a journey unlike any other. It’s a testament to the power of folklore in modern storytelling and a fine example of how games can educate, challenge, and enchant all at once. Rating: 9/10
