Beyond Hanwell Teaser: The Royal Hallamshire

This gets a recommend because like the rest of this dev's work this punches above its weight and if you can tolerate a lack of polish due to it being by a very small (but experienced) team you'll find a very atmospheric, tense, and enjoyable game that really channels the spirit of old school survival horror and the vibes of classic horror games with an Unreal paint job. One thing I will say though is make sure you have a relatively buff rig, because yeah I know I have a potato since I mostly use Steam to play indies but DAMN did this thing chug on anything but medium to low settings for me lol. Excited for the full game. Also don't sweat spoilers, it's cool to go in this one blind, There's not much story though there is lore if you played the first game - but nothing to get crazy over.

I liked this a lot. It could be more polished, but that takes time. There are bugs, but in time they could be solved. I liked the melee combat very much, seems to be way more polished that the gun play, which is still good. The atmosphere is amazing, maybe the best thing. The graphics are very good, I loved the lighting, amazing how it is used to make you engaged in the story/action. Although I liked it and want to play the full game, I think it would be wise to wait for the game to be polished out. I think it would be worse for me if I would rush to play it now and maybe be taken out of the game cause of the problems. But I will play this for sure. I want to get the full experience with none of the problems.

It's not perfect, but, considering that I wasn't very impressed by the original game, I was pleasantly surprised by this teaser. The environments, monster designs, and graphics were quite well done, though some shadows looked quite jagged and using V sync makes the FPS go berserk (spiked to 380 for me) so that needs to be fixed. The combat is pretty basic and a bit janky (ex. enemies can leap attack through pillars), but it's serviceable for a game like this. I'm curious where they go with the story. I honestly found the story of the first game completely forgettable, but this one seems like it's setting up to be better. I really liked how they handled showing you notes on the various enemy types. It was handled in a clever way. Though I must say that some of the voice acting is pretty rough. It's not a deal breaker, but they could've done much better. Also, the flashlight ran out way too fast and there weren't nearly enough batteries/glow sticks. I like to play slow and thoroughly explore, so I spent a lot of time in the dark feeling around for items, which was frustrating. I hope that's better handled in the full game. Overall, the full game is too janky for the current price ($25), but I'm in no rush so once it's in a bundle or drops down to like $5 I'll probably get it.

Great demo. Sprinting/turn mechanic is a bit weird. Solid graphics with great scares and a scary vibe to the surroundings. Would be more fun with no action, so that you had to hide/run to survive.

Да демо понравилось напоминает смесь Fear , Condemned , а не Outlast как все пишут - наконец то разработчики сделали пинки , удары и огнестрел а то постоянные прятки и убегания от монстров уже надоедают . Отличная атмосфера , Озвучка ,не плохая графика , только с текстурками какие то проблемы , надеюсь в полной версии все поправят ! Рекомендую .
