About
A brutal FPS. One girl. One gun. One recording.
They broke into her life.
They filmed her. They destroyed her.
Now she's back - and she's filming them.
Better Than Dead is a brutal first-person shooter set in the depths of photorealistic Hong Kong.
You play as a survivor who’s done running. She’s got a pistol, a bodycam, and a kill list.
Every level is a raid. And every raid has a rhythm.
You'll die. You'll learn. You'll come back faster - until every run feels like the revenge scene it was meant to be.
Bodycam revenge shooter – Film every step. Every shot. Every death. No mercy.
Learn, adapt, dominate - Each room has a rhythm. Die, read the layout, and come back harder. Every run is faster than the last.
Photorealistic Hong Kong – Fight your way through iconic action-movie settings: neon-lit restaurants, seedy nightclubs, back alleys, rooftop dens.
Raw, aggressive gunplay - Slide into bullet time. Move fast. Hit harder.
Cinematic action style – Inspired by classic Hong Kong action films from the ’80s and ’90s.

I looked forward to more updates and the next game
could be good but is currently abysmal to play
I know I only played a short time, but the game is straightforward. Escape from (Triad?) predators, keep moving, and move forward. Righteous vindication from your assailants makes this game challenging yet vindicating all at once. Truly hoping for controller support in the future!

nah man, imprecise shooting is not it no matter how hard the devs and enjoyers of this want to push "Hong Kong" action. You can be Hong Kong action without me needing to slide in a room full of enemies on sheer luck it's gonna be me who sprays, prays and wins and not them accidentally landing a shot that invalids my entire entry.
While it is still in Early Access, i have to say it does seem pretty flesed out already. if the Devs keep this up, they have a banger on their hands. Realistic yet obviously animated Visuals make this game feel like your own little revenge-tour. also have to admit a friend of mine, who often shows me some (in my opinion) mid games showed me this one, and i was hooked. however, i have not yet figured out why certain runs count as "soulless" and yet seemingly similar other runs get Blood rain or Black star even. i have half the levels black starred, but idk how. maybe put some better guidance, just as to what counts for a black star run. thats all i have to say, but i would get why you wouldnt put much more guidance, as this whole game is about not being guided but just rushing your own revenge
Ngl i really love the premise. Its brutal and crude, but we need more games with settings that say ♥♥♥♥ your polite sensibilities. Anyway the gunplay is ass but i think that is because this is a random victim of a woman that never held guns before getting revenge. So its thematic. Meanwhile the fact you are essentially untrained "jane wick" is just a cool idea in itself. Its a very short game, but its cheap, and i had alot of fun with it. The health is rather punishing but it rewards you being fast, and knowing how to fire and maneuver. If you're used to tactical games its not that bad. One thing i noticed is bullet penetration is also a thing which was fun to use against enemies in cover. The music also is so good. The only real downside to me is the fact you have no gun variety at all. Just the one pistol. I don't mind that personally but i can see this as a huge negative to not have ANY other options.
Ragdoll needs to be fixed, but otherwise pretty great
good game but please add automatic rifles
This game is actually really good. Ran through all of the main levels in a little under an hour which is kind of disappointing for the price point but I am interested to see what comes next. I would like to refute several of the points I see in some of the negative reviews as I don't think they accurately reflect how the game is played. This analysis will be spoiler free as I believe this game should be checked out if your even remotely interested. The floatiness of the firearm is neither reflective of the characters story or simply the developers lack of real world gun knowledge, but rather a deliberate attempt to push the player into the proper tempo of gameplay that this game shines in. The handling of the gun becomes far less of an issue the closer to enemies you become, and if anything allows you to quickly switch targets extremely efficiently. As such it is in the players best interest to close the gap as quickly as possibly. Even in stages which are more open ended, closing the gap is rather easy as long as the slide is utilized and you zig zag a little bit as you approach. The enemies are pretty bad at shooting and you are given a lot of leeway before you actually take any damage. Even in instances where engagements are farther away, your unlimited ammo means you can just continually mag dump enemies which almost always guaranteed me a kill. There is literally no reason not to mag dump every enemy group so just do it and also its fun. Despite the "tactical" aesthetic of this game based on the bodycam presentation, this game is anything but slow and methodical. Approaching this game similar to something like Hotline Miami or Max Payne allows the game to really show its potential. Rushing down the enemy in bullet time and quickly peeking in and out of cover gives this game a really unique flow state that I haven't seen in a game of this type. In most stages you travel from A to B then back to A again. I've seen multiple reviews argue that enemy placements are unrealistic and place enemies behind the player randomly, but I think that how enemies approach from behind usually is very manageable and fun. It also compliments the backtracking nature of many stages by offering opponents on your exit rather than simply walking back to the start in silence. Most stages are basically a glorified corridor with no way to get off path so memorizing spawns definitely is not required. I'm hardly the best video game player out there, but by moving fast and getting close to enemies this game isn't really as hard as some negative reviews seem to make it out to be (and I also did all levels no civilian deaths as well, civilians killed by enemies don't count towards that number apparently). This game in its current state is not without critiques, but for the most part they were not severe: There are certain aspects of the movement that are slightly strange, at least in my individual experience playing through the game. As described prior sliding is incredibly important and thus you do a lot of it. On several occasions however the sliding sort of bugs out and leave me in the crouched state at the end of the slide, or activates second slide immediately afterward from the crouched state. Sometimes when taking damage/getting to the weakened state the level music stops playing and does not come back. The music complaint isn't game breaking but I quite like the music so its just kind of annoying. If you are on the fence at all about this game like I was I would highly recommend trying it because I don't think the reviews do this game justice
