Bermuda Survivor

Pretty fun rougelite with a standard gameplay loop and decent story. I did occasionally encounter a bug when entering the settings which would change my language. Sometimes a restart would fix it, sometimes it wouldn't. Overall, good time. Also raccoons with katanas.

A small army of katana wielding racoons carried me through a run. 10/10, would recommend.

Fun little title with a loop you expect from these type of games. Highlights for me is honestly the voice lines and the music. Easy to pick up and once you get going your tearing through whatever the monsters are your facing. Find the racoons, trust they are handy little trash demons.

I played the demo and had assumed this was going to be pretty good. However, my expectations were blown out of the water. After only a bit more than 3 hours of play time, I can say with confidence that this is already one of the best games I have played all year. The way the roguelike elements come together seamlessly with the story is truly a feat in itself but, they take it one step further and add in an actively solvable mystery and one of the most satisfying and grueling combat systems and gameplay loops I have had the pleasure of playing. As of writing this, there isn't much exposure for this game and I sincerely hope that changes because the developers of this deserve every bit of recognition and praise for what they have done here. I would have paid 5x the price for this and been just as satisfied, thank you Glitch Mode. 10/10.

Players must survive against large numbers of enemies that approach from every direction, constantly moving to avoid being overwhelmed. As enemies are defeated, they drop experience points that allow the player to level up during the run. Each level offers a selection of upgrades that can dramatically alter the player’s combat abilities. These upgrades might grant new weapons, increase attack power, enhance movement speed, or add special effects that interact with other abilities. As these bonuses accumulate, the player becomes increasingly powerful, eventually unleashing waves of destruction capable of clearing large groups of enemies at once. What sets the game apart from many similar titles is its use of a persistent, handcrafted environment rather than randomly generated arenas. The island remains largely consistent across different runs, allowing players to gradually learn its layout and develop strategies for navigating it efficiently. The screen often fills with enemies, projectiles, and explosive effects as the player’s abilities grow stronger. Despite the intensity of these battles, the art style remains clear enough that players can track their character’s movement and incoming threats without becoming overwhelmed. The island itself features a range of environments, including eerie forests, volcanic landscapes, and fog-covered areas that add variety to the exploration. Sound design contributes to the energetic tone of the game. Weapons fire with satisfying audio feedback, enemies produce distinctive sounds when defeated, and background music helps maintain a fast pace during combat. The protagonist also occasionally comments on the strange events happening on the island, providing bits of humor and personality throughout the adventure. While these voice lines can add charm, they may become repetitive during longer play sessions. Despite its strong gameplay loop, the game does have a few limitations. Enemy types, while initially varied, can begin to feel repetitive after extended play. Certain ability combinations also become extremely powerful, making later stages of a run feel less challenging once players discover particularly effective builds. Additionally, the use of a fixed map—while interesting for exploration—means that some of the unpredictability commonly associated with roguelite games is reduced. Nevertheless, Bermuda Survivor succeeds in delivering a satisfying blend of survival combat and exploration-driven progression. Its combination of intense enemy waves, evolving player builds, and persistent environmental upgrades creates a gameplay loop that encourages repeated runs. Each expedition contributes to both the player’s strength and the gradual transformation of the island itself. Ultimately, Bermuda Survivor stands out within the crowded survival roguelite genre by adding a stronger sense of place and progression. Instead of feeling like a series of disconnected arenas, the game creates the impression of a living environment that changes as the player explores it.
