Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 1.57/day in the week to Aug 19 → 5.14/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

While editing a JSON to prevent certain character types from spawning I noticed another line in the file that made me think Harebrained Studios needs a hard drive check. "MechwarriorMinimumAge: 14" What do you mean I can fill my Argo up with non-binary UNDERAGE mechwarriors and pay them to do war crimes on my behalf? What did Tod Howard mean by this?! Anyways, I got 370 hours in this game by using a mod that is now banned but you can fix the game yourself by following these simple instructions: Backup your Assembly-CSharp.dll file located in {GameInstallDir}\BATTLETECH\BattleTech_Data\Managed. Open the DLL using dnSpy. Navigate to the SGCharacterCreationNamePanel class. Edit the SetOptions method to return only ["He", "She"]. Compile and save the file. Configuration Adjustment Even after removing the pronoun from the UI, the game logic may still generate pilots with that pronoun. To prevent this, edit the SimGameConstants.json file located in {GameInstallDir}\BATTLETECH\BattleTech_Data\StreamingAssets\data. Set the NonBinaryGenerationWeight to 0 (or a very low number) to stop random generation of this pronoun.

The base game is easily the best introduction to the Battletech setting. A comfortable Firefly vibe that will either see you lose every pilot and file for bankruptcy or forge an empire. The combat is solid, the story is RPG lite to give you some agency, and context mouse-overs help you understand a little more of the background. That alone is enough to grab the game and all the DLC... The best part is the mods. Your first playthrough should be the vanilla 3025 experience, but after that? BEX gives you a "vanilla plus" experience. The same mechanics, but a ton more machines. BTA 3062 brings the mechanics closer to tabletop, adds more unit types than there were units in vanilla, and is constantly updated with new content. Rogue Tech is for people who run Arch Linux and attempt weaponless Darksouls completions. However, get it on sale, because screw Paradox.
Some would argue this is a classic. It's pretty good stuff. It can get a little repatitive, but the story is decent and replayability beyond the story is there as you grow your lances... 7.5/10 and better with discounts. It can easiiy be found at 75%+ off and at that price it is a no brainer. Not sure the DLCs add alot to it, but it adds a little.
I came in expecting MechWarrior: Mercenaries vibes. What I got was a part‑time job as a bankruptcy administrator. Low mission payouts, repair times that feel longer than a Steiner family dinner, and AI that apparently graduated from the “I never miss” academy. Lose a mech? Lose a pilot? Congratulations, you’re now save‑scumming whether you like it or not. And don’t get me started on the monthly bills. I swear my dropship is secretly subscribed to twelve streaming services. One‑ and two‑skull missions should be warm‑ups, not “pray to RNGesus and hope your mech doesn’t explode” events.
It's RNG uglyness combined with lack of depth, repetitive gameplay, fake difficulty that sums up to just heavily outnumber you because the AI isn't good enough to outwit you, and boring grinding. I've tried to give this game numerous second chances because of the storyline, but I can't take it anymore. It feels like taking the garbage out, have it teleport back inside and having to do it again, and again.
A great game buried beneath its own horrible technical state. The core gameplay is very fun. The tabletop battletech concepts translate amazingly well into a xcom-style game. Mr. Weisman is the GOAT and clearly knows what he's doing when it comes to turn-based combat design. However, all this is made completely irrelevant because the end product is one of the ugliest and worst performing videogames ever made. It looks like a jagged aliased mess, the tactical map is completely unreadable, 'mechs are impossible to visually distinguish without zooming in or hovering a mouse over them because at the distance they just look like fuzzy vomit of jagged polygons. And to add insult to injury, in a shameful attempt to hide the sickening uglyness of their brainchild, the HBS artists decided to violently smear a dozen different post effects on the player's screen. The game has like scanlines, dithering and film grain going on all at once, making it look like an art student's first attempt at retouching a picture in photoshop. But listen, I can close my eyes on the graphics only a mother could love as long as it runs good. But it DOESN'T. I run it on a very beefy PC, and the way it utilizes GPU and drops frames would make you thing this game is an advanced real-time voxel physical simulator that calculates the heat dissipation of every metal panel in your mech's body. BUT THIS IS A TURN BASED GAME THAT ROLLS A COUPLE 6 SIDED DICE EACH TURN. IT HAS LIKE 15 UNITS ON THE SCREEN MAX. We used to make these back in the 80s and they ran just fine on what today would be considered a graphing calculator, what the hell happened? I wish I could force myself to see past the horrible technical state and just enjoy the very entertaining gameplay beneath. I even wasted a few hours trying to make it work for me by disabling all the visual noise with mods and applying the unity performance fixes, but then I load into an urban warfare mission and it wrecks my ♥♥♥♥ again. Send all unity devs to the reeducation camps and make ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ learn C.
Pronouns
The game is probably good if you really get deep into it and mod it or have near-infinite time to play. Unfortunately the gameplay loop (aside of the very short main story campaign, which is also very basic and mid) consists strictly of repeatable skirmishes which are just unbelievable slog, take forever to complete and feel unrewarding. There are way better turn-based games available.
1553 hours and I'm itching for more. This is one of my fave games, especially with the BTA 3062 mod.
