DONT DO THIS TO YOURSELF, ITS BAD, REALLY BAD... let me explain (with evidence): 1- lets just start by picturing the game, its plays as a very limited and unimaginative clone of old Breath of Fire games, with even less mechanics 2- Theres bugs AND theres evidence of the devs running out of time before release date, such as interactive assets which do nothing and/or serve no purpose 3- you have to read a manula to lear how to play it 4- the back story to your players is given to you in that manual, by the time you start the game, 5 out of 6 characters already know each other and do not develop each other through the whole game 5- evidence that its not just me: only 20% of the players made it past the 4th dungeon, around 20% reached the max level, most players didnt even bother with sidequests. 6- IF you do everything, IF you get everything, you stop being able to upgrade your characters (level and equipment) at least ONE dungeon before the end, meaning that by the time you cap, you will still have to go trhough a LOT of meaningless battles, turning the game into a chore. 7-the lore of the game is given to you in the for of pages anad pages to read 8- LOTS of pointless backtracking and VERY avoidable crafting mechanincs which dont really ammount to much 9-NG+ brings nothing new, other than you lose your entire inventory and retain your perk points 10- the final battle is a nothing burguer 11- THE WORST: Ends on a cliffhanger Seriously, DONT buy this, go away, try something else, DONT. DO. THIS. TO. YOURSELF.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

(Devs hate me^^)
Maybe get it for 1 dollar. Devs couldnt be bothered to put in a speed option so have fun with all the 'dead air'. The amount of choices you make vs the amount of time you wait while things happen is stupid. Its like every battle sequence take 4 times as long as it should. Not to mention the walking speed on the world map. I saw the devs reply "we cant change it , it will not work with the game engine." Within 1 day someone posted a guide with CheatEngine on how to fix. I am barely recommending this.
Abstract
A short linear comic, embodied in a JRPG, surrounded by beautiful scenery. I used the beta version (linuxtest) for the game. Sometimes intro won't play (black screen with sounds). Restarting the game solves the problem. Native GNU/Linux binary works more or less fine on Steam Deck out of the box with external FHD (1920x1080) monitor, keyboard and mouse.
JRPG
Game+
✔ Ruined King: A League of Legends Story™
🐧 GNU/Linux
Battle Chasers: Nightwar is an indie JRPG that stands out for its captivating stylized cartoon 3D art and animations, particularly evident in the dungeon map and battle sequences. The dungeon design is another highlight, featuring intriguing rooms, traps, and events that maintain exploration freshness. The dungeons create a visually striking, dark, and ambient environment, enhanced with subtle lighting and glowing runes. However, the impressive visuals are marred by an odd choice to juxtapose the great 3D art against static 2D backgrounds on the world map and in battle screens, creating an awkward contrast. Despite these visual strengths, the game's major letdown is its combat system, which consumes a significant portion of gameplay. While there are interesting combat mechanics, such as a levelled limit break feature and the ability to "overcharge" mana on standard attacks, the combat unfolds at a slow pace with predictable patterns. The absence of inherent elemental weaknesses, minimal base damage variability, and underpowered magic or special attacks make fights feel predictable and formulaic. Although perks offer some character customization and skill enhancement, the points required to upgrade these perks are scarce, and the upgrades expensive which limits meaningful progression, often forcing players into strict character builds and thus repetitive combat patterns. The combat and enemy balancing further detract from the gaming experience. Random field enemies, even at equal levels, can one-shot the player, and trash mob encounters within dungeons often feel more challenging than the final dungeon bosses. Balancing issues become more apparent when a player is a level or two above the enemies, turning once difficult encounters into laughably easy ones. The semi-random loot system contributes to the dissatisfaction, with poor itemization leading to only incremental upgrades and a lack of distinct item feel. Despite being showered with loot, much of it turns out to be vendor trash. Additionally, the game lacks a compelling plot. Mid-journey, the party crash-lands on a mysterious island enriched by mana resources. The motivation to thwart evil figures raising an army lacks depth and engagement beyond we are good and they are bad. Battle Chasers: Nightwar, despite a few good ideas and nice art and animation, falls short in practice, delivering a monotonous journey characterized by a poor story, bland combat system, and a mishmash of surtace level RPG mechanics that fail to contribute a distinct identity or feel. While the focus on art and animation is evident, the game misses the mark by neglecting well-designed mechanics and a compelling narrative, essential elements for a successful JRPG.
that's Joe Madureira's game all over the place. it reminds me of games I miss a lot: Disciples 2 (its combat system), Darksiders 2 (everything else) and somehow Bastion (probably for its mood). really great game, I hope there'll be a second one someday
